President Donald Trump<\/a> indicated Monday that he\u2019s considering firing Kimberly Guilfoyle<\/a>, a former top Trump campaign surrogate who has served as the U.S. ambassador to Greece since 2025.
\u201cWe\u2019re looking at it,\u201d Trump said when asked if he\u2019s weighing firing Guilfoyle, as first reported by The Associated Press, <\/a>amid allegations of misconduct related to her role as ambassador.
\u201cWe\u2019re not happy,\u201d Trump added.
His comments come days after he struck a softer tone when asked Friday about the alleged conduct of Guilfoyle \u2014 a former Fox News personality who used to be engaged to Trump\u2019s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
\u201cI just heard a little bit about it. I don\u2019t know too much, but she was always very nice,\u201d he said at the time.
Guilfoyle and the U.S. Embassy in Greece are under investigation<\/a> by the State Department\u2019s Office of the Inspector General, two people familiar with the decision confirmed to NBC News last week.
The probe came after reports in The Wall Street Journal <\/a>of misconduct in her role as ambassador, including allegedly bragging about her connections to Greek tycoons<\/a> who she said funded luxury trips for her. The story cited people who heard the conversation and an audio recording. The reports have not been independently confirmed by NBC News.
Last week, a Trump donor named Eric Deters came forward accusing Guilfoyle of asking him to pay her outstanding $100,000 American Express bill in the days before her 2025 confirmation hearing in the Senate in exchange for access to senior administration officials.
\u201cShe was so desperate for that $100,000. It was a quid pro quo,\u201d Deters told NBC News<\/a> in an interview last week.
\u201cShe said I could ask her for anything and everything in Trump world. There was no request too big,\u201d he said, adding he did not pay her the money.
Attorneys for Guilfoyle said in a statement that Deters had owed her the money for speaking engagements, which he denies.
The attorneys, David Schwartz and Jesse Binnall, also denied allegations of any impropriety involving her travel, saying she \u201csought, obtained and followed State Department guidance and followed the Department\u2019s travel regulations.\u201d
The attorneys added that Guilfoyle \u201chas made American energy leadership and the advancement of U.S. energy security interests across Europe defining priorities of her tenure under President Trump.\u201d She \u201chas served, and will continue to serve, with integrity, honor and distinction .We are evaluating all available legal remedies to collect this debt and any other potential causes of action,\u201d they said.
