Reiner has pleaded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/nick-reiner-indicted-murder-charges-stabbing-deaths-parents-rob-michel-rcna592202\" target=\"_blank\">not guilty to two counts of murder <\/a>with special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and lying in wait.<br \/>Anita Wu, an attorney representing Reiner\u2019s probate interests, revealed that $200,000 of the trust has been spent, which includes an undisclosed amount for his previous defense attorney, Alan Jackson.<br \/>Jackson, a high-profile defense lawyer, resigned from Reiner\u2019s case in January, citing \u201ccircumstances beyond our control.\u201d But Jackson was in court Monday, standing alongside Wu, signaling that he could rejoin Reiner\u2019s team if Reiner\u2019s finances can be resolved. <br \/>A trustee representing the trust fund who took over duties just last month said she opposes any money going to Reiner, citing California\u2019s \u201cslayer statute,\u201d which bars killers from financially benefiting from their crimes. <br \/>Reiner was set to receive the full $1.63 million at age 35.
