USA TODAY described this as the &#8220;lowest approval rating&#8221; that the president has seen in YouGov tracking since returning to office in 2025.<br \/>Other recent Trump headlines highlight some of the president&#8217;s controversial decisions, including his attempts to <a href=\/story\/news\/politics\/2026\/08\/11\/trump-birthright-citizenship-aclu-executive-order\/91256606007\/ data-t-l=:b|e|k|\u2691u class=gnt_ar_b_a>end birthright citizenship<\/a>, his refusal to dismiss the possibility of declaring a <a href=\/story\/news\/politics\/2026\/08\/11\/trump-approval-rating-hits-new-low-latest-poll\/91260164007\/ data-t-l=:b|e|k|\u2691u class=gnt_ar_b_a>national security emergency<\/a> in order to establish new voting restrictions before midterm elections and more.<br \/>Here&#8217;s the latest on polls in North Carolina and the entire U.S.<br \/>Recent polls found the following on Trump&#8217;s approval rating:<br \/>As\u00a0<a href=\/story\/news\/politics\/2026\/07\/09\/trump-approval-rating-july-2026-latest-north-carolina-us-polls\/90863092007\/ rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=_blank data-t-l=:b|e|k|\u2691u class=gnt_ar_b_a>previously reported<\/a>\u00a0by the Citizen Times, a\u00a0<a href=https:\/\/www.catawba.edu\/news\/all-news\/2026\/yougov-27\/ rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=_blank data-t-l=:b|z|k|\u2691u class=gnt_ar_b_a>study from Catawba College<\/a>\u00a0published June 23 surveyed 1,000 online respondents in an online survey. Responses found a\u00a0<strong>43% approval<\/strong>\u00a0rating and a\u00a0<strong>54% disapproval<\/strong>\u00a0rating (with an overall margin of error of +\/-3.83%) among North Carolina residents.<br \/>The latest Catawba College report also surveyed respondents on N.C. Gov. Josh Stein&#8217;s approval rating among Tar Heel State residents. The survey found that among 905 weighted likely voters, Stein held a\u00a0<strong>53% approval<\/strong>\u00a0rating and a\u00a0<strong>27% disapproval<\/strong>\u00a0rating.<br \/>Heading into the midterm election, the Catawba College study also collected responses on the approval rating for N.C.&#8217;s U.S. Senate candidates. Among the survey&#8217;s 905 weighted likely voters, Republican Michael Whatley received a\u00a0<strong>34% approval<\/strong>\u00a0rating.<br \/>Democrat candidate for the U.S. Senate seat race and former N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper received a\u00a0<strong>48% approval<\/strong>\u00a0rating on the latest Catawba College survey.<br \/>According to results from now-defunct polling website FiveThirtyEight, Trump had a final approval rating of\u00a0<strong>34%<\/strong>\u00a0when he left office in 2021.
