AIKEN \u2014 Aiken Regional Medical Centers<\/a> has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a High Performing hospital for pacemaker implantation and leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma care in the publication’s 2026-2027 Best Hospitals edition.
The High Performing designation is the highest distinction awarded as part of U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings. According to U.S. News, fewer than half of the thousands of hospitals evaluated earned the designation in the procedures and conditions assessed.
The annual ratings are intended to help patients and healthcare providers make informed decisions about where to receive care for complex medical conditions and elective procedures.
“Being recognized as High Performing by U.S. News reflects the exceptional care our physicians, nurses and care teams provide, as well as our team’s commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety and continuous improvement,” said Matt Merrifield, Chief Executive Officer of Aiken Regional Medical Centers.\u00a0
“Whether someone comes to us for a scheduled procedure, an emergency or treatment for a complex condition, our focus remains on delivering exceptional care grounded in quality, safety and strong clinical outcomes,\u201d Merrifield said.
U.S. News Managing Editor and Chief of Health Analysis Ben Harder said the ratings provide patients with reliable information when choosing where to receive care.
“When patients face a major surgery or a chronic medical condition, having access to clear, quality data is vital\u2026 A ‘High Performing’ rating means that Aiken Regional outperformed a national threshold, giving families a reliable starting point as they consult with their doctors to choose the best place for care,\u201d said Harder.
For the 2026-2027 rankings, U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions. Hospitals were assessed using measures including risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience, drawing on data from more than 800 million patient care records.
Aiken Regional Medical Centers is a 273-bed acute care hospital that offers a range of specialty services.\u00a0
The hospital also holds certifications including Certified Primary Heart Attack Center, Certified Primary Stroke Center and Advanced Heart Failure Certification.
