Bargain hunters are hitting the road as the 127 Yard Sale<\/a>, better known as the World\u2019s Longest Yard Sale, returns today, stretching 690 miles from Michigan to Alabama<\/a>.
Running Aug. 6-9, the annual event transforms highways and small towns<\/a> into one massive open-air marketplace, with thousands of vendors selling everything from antiques and vintage signs<\/a> to furniture, tools, collectibles and handmade goods.
The route begins in Addison, Michigan, and follows U.S. 127 through Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee before ending in northeast Alabama, where shoppers can browse dozens of vendor locations around Gadsden, Collinsville and Fort Payne.
Alabama makes up the southern end of the World\u2019s Longest Yard Sale, and some of the busiest shopping areas can be found along Lookout Mountain Parkway.

Despite its name, the World\u2019s Longest Yard Sale doesn\u2019t stay on U.S. Highway 127 for the entire trip.
U.S. 127 ends in Chattanooga, Tennessee. From there, the yard sale follows a series of roads through Georgia and northeast Alabama that make up Lookout Mountain Parkway, guiding shoppers to the southern endpoint in Gadsden.
Because the route winds through rural communities and scenic mountain roads, organizers recommend reviewing the official driving directions before heading out.
GPS navigations may not always follow the designated yard sale route or work reliably in some remote areas.
Whether you\u2019re hunting for vintage treasures or everyday bargains, the 127 Yard Sale offers a little bit of everything.
Roadside tents, church parking lots, front yards and community gathering spots fill with vendors selling antiques, vinyl records, glassware, home de\u0301cor, tools, clothing, toys, collectibles, handmade crafts and fresh produce.
Most vendors typically begin selling around 8 a.m. and wrap up by late afternoon, although hours vary because each seller operates independently.
While many vendors now accept credit cards or mobile payments, shoppers are encouraged to carry cash since some sellers remain cash-only.
