Flare-up in tensions comes as Washington and Tehran have been negotiating a memorandum of understanding to end an unpopular war
The US military has launched further strikes on multiple targets in Iran<\/a>, a day after it struck Iran in retaliation for a drone attack on a cargo ship in the strait of Hormuz.
US Central Command (Centcom) said its strikes were in \u201cdirect response to continued Iranian aggression against commercial shipping\u201d and that it had targeted Iran\u2019s \u201cmilitary surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities, and minelayer capabilities\u201d in response.
In retaliation, Iran\u2019s Islamic \u2060Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said early on \u2060Sunday that it \u2060had launched a joint missile and drone \u2060operation targeting \u200beight US military<\/a> \u200csites in \u200cKuwait and Bahrain.
In a statement the IRGC vowed that any further aggression would be met with a \u201ccrushing response\u201d and warned that violating the ceasefire would result \u201cin the complete \u2060halt of all \u200bdiplomatic processes\u201d.
Both Bahrain and Kuwait denounced the Iranian attacks, although it wasn\u2019t clear what, if anything, had been hit.

The exchanges underscored the fragility of a Pakistan-brokered peace process with both sides accusing the other of violating an interim deal signed less than two weeks ago.
The text signed by the US and Iran said both countries, and their respective allies, were \u201cnot to initiate any war or any military operation against each other and to refrain from the threat or use of force against each other\u201d.
Posting on Truth Social on Saturday, US president Donald Trump warned of a tipping point.

The 14-point US-Iran interim agreement was meant to halt the fighting, which the US and Israel started on 28 February, and reopen the strait to shipping while talks began on more deep-seated issues, such as Iran\u2019s nuclear programme.
One round of mediated talks, \u2060led by vice-president JD Vance and Iran\u2019s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, was held in Switzerland a week ago and Washington then waived sanctions on Tehran, but the fighting and recriminations have since resumed and intensified.
A US official, confirming Iran\u2019s attacks on the facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, told Reuters the situation was still unfolding but there were no reported US casualties or major damage to US sites in the Middle East so far.
