Valdosta- Wild Adventures took part in what is touted as the world’s largest swim lesson on June 25th, to help promote water safety.

Today, June 25th, Wild Adventures participated and hosted the World’s Largest Swim Lesson at the Catch-A-Wave Bay at Splash Island Waterpark. This annual global event occurs each year near the end of June to promote water safety to children and adults ahead of 4th<\/sup>\u00a0of July, when statistically people spend time in the water the most.
Wild Adventures was proud to have its largest turnout this year, with many guests ready and excited to participate.
Guests participated in the 30-minute lesson that covered sun safety, summoning help, submersion and breathing recovery, and basic locomotion and freestyle stroke skills.

Wild Adventures Theme Park will once again join aquatic facilities around the globe to take part in the World\u2019s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL), a worldwide event aimed at teaching vital water safety skills to children and families. Presented locally by Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen\u00ae, the swim lesson will take place at Splash Island Waterpark at 11 a.m. on June 25.
Registration will open at 10 a.m. on June 25 in the Wild Adventures ticketing courtyard. Registered guests will receive early access to Splash Island Waterpark to take part in the 30-minute swim lesson, which begins at 11 a.m. at Catch-A-Wave Bay. The swim lesson will feature certified swim instructors from the Valdosta-Lowndes County Family YMCA. All other waterpark attractions will open at their regularly scheduled time following the lesson. A daily admission ticket, Summer Fun Card or Season Pass is required for participation.
Now in its 17th year, WLSL is a one-day initiative held across more than 20 countries to raise awareness about the vital importance of teaching people to swim to help prevent drowning and improve quality of life. TEAM WLSL™ has shared the message Swimming Lesson Save Lives™ with billions of kids and adults. The event is coordinated by aquatic facilities, swim schools and waterparks worldwide, each hosting a local lesson as part of the larger effort.
The timing is deliberate. Research shows the days surrounding July 4th represent the peak of summer drowning risk in the U.S. as families flock to the water. This initiative delivers crucial safety skills precisely when risk levels soar.
\u201cWater safety is crucial everywhere, especially during the summertime,\u201d said Jasmin Hammond, aquatics operations manager at Wild Adventures. \u201cWe hope to teach our guests the importance of water safety and give them the proper skills to swim safely no matter where they go.\u201d
