She was reported missing after Hooker\u2019s husband, Brian Hooker, told authorities she fell overboard while on a dinghy trip together.<br \/>\u201cIt\u2019s making it a little bit more real,\u201d Aylesworth told Dateline\u2019s Andrea Canning in an excerpt shared on TODAY April 17.<br \/>\u201cA lot of sadness,\u201d she continued. \u201cWhen I first got here, I sat up there and looked at the boat and started talking to her like she was here. I was like, \u2018Hey Mom, I\u2019m here. Wherever you are. I just want to talk to you and see you again.\u2019\u201d<br \/>Brian Hooker, 58, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/coast-guard-opens-criminal-investigation-american-woman-missing-bahama-rcna267373\" target=\"_blank\">taken into custody<\/a> by authorities on April 8 and then released by police five days later. His attorney, Terrel Butler, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/deadline-looms-charge-husband-woman-missing-bahamas-lawyer-says-rcna331488\" target=\"_blank\">told reporters<\/a> that authorities \u201chad no evidence\u201d against him and were required to release him.<br \/>Hooker remains a suspect in his wife\u2019s disappearance, Royal Bahamas Police Commissioner Shanta Knowles told NBC News on April 13. He has not been charged with a crime and denies having anything to do with it.<br \/>Aynesworth, 28, told Dateline she spent three hours talking to police and hopes to keep a spotlight on the case.<br \/>Brian Hooker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/husband-missing-american-woman-bahamas-leaves-country-rcna332023\" target=\"_blank\">has left the Bahamas<\/a> since being released by police because his mother is ill, but he plans to return, his lawyer told NBC News.<br \/>He told police that Lynette fell overboard on a dinghy they were riding in and had the key to the vessel, which forced him to paddle from Elbow Cay to Marsh Harbor Boat Yard to notify police. Authorities are still searching for her by land, air and sea.<br \/>Police questioned Brian Hooker for more than three hours at Central Police Station in Grand Bahama about whether he harmed his wife, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/deadline-looms-charge-husband-woman-missing-bahamas-lawyer-says-rcna331488\" target=\"_blank\">his attorney told NBC News<\/a>.<br \/>Aylesworth has previously questioned her stepfather\u2019s version of what happened.<br \/>\u201cI hope this was just a freak accident, but I just have a hard time believing it at the moment,\u201d Aylesworth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/news\/husband-woman-missing-bahamas-released-custody-rcna331685\" target=\"_blank\">told NBC News<\/a> on April 9. \u201cI just want to know the truth.\u201d<br \/>\u201cI feel like this was probably preplanned, if anything, like, it doesn\u2019t seem like just some accident,\u201d she added.<br \/>Brian Hooker \u201ccategorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing and in particular the allegations recently made by Karli Aylesworth,\u201d Butler said in a statement to NBC News.<br \/>Aylesworth told NBC News the couple had a turbulent history, \u201cespecially when they drink.\u201d<br \/>Lynette Hooker was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/lynette-hooker-woman-missing-bahamas-was-previously-arrested-domestic-rcna267417\" target=\"_blank\">arrested on charges of assault and battery\/simple assault in 2015<\/a>, though the warrant was denied for \u201cinsufficient evidence as to who started the assault.\u201d She and her husband accused each other of assault, according to a Michigan police report.<br \/>Brian Hooker was also acquitted by a Michigan jury of a child abuse charge in 2006, according to court records.
