Money on the table:<\/strong> The number of tax returns the Internal Revenue Services has received so far this tax season continue to lag<\/a> last year’s pace, but refunds are up more than 11%, IRS data show.
If you’re not ready to file yet:<\/strong> Instead of filing a return by April 15, you can opt to file a short,\u00a0less than one-page form\u00a0for an automatic extension<\/a> until Oct. 15 with no questions asked. Importantly, the IRS\u00a0reminds\u00a0taxpayers “an extension to file is not an extension to pay taxes.”
If you want to make Tax Day sweeter:<\/strong> Whether you’ve already filed your taxes and are\u00a0waiting on your\u00a0tax refund<\/a>, or need to\u00a0file a tax extension, you get free or discounted treats<\/a> at places like Subway, Qdoba and\u00a0Krispy Kreme, among others.
