A dramatic and entertaining Day 8 of the 2026 Milan Cortina Games saw seven Winter Olympics gold medals handed out.<\/strong>
American-born Chinese athlete Eileen Gu qualified for the women's freeski big air final despite a fall in her second qualifying run.
In the women's curling, Switzerland edged past Canada 8-7 in controversial circumstances, and the U.S. beat Japan 7-4; USA's men beat Germany 8-6 and the Swiss beat Canada 9-5.
Earlier for Team USA, Jordan Stolz took 500m speedskating gold<\/a> with an Olympic-record 33.77 and skiers Jaelin Kauf and Elizabeth Lemley won dual moguls silver and bronze.
In ice hockey, the U.S. men beat Denmark 6-3<\/a>, while Canada's women routed Germany<\/a> 5-1 to reach the semifinals.
Jack Hughes <\/strong>with a beautiful display of skating and ends the play with a back shot that makes it 6-3. That is a wrap.
I think one of the positives for Team USA <\/strong>so far has been the play of Hughes.
He's not 100 percent and we know this, but he's looked electric at times in these first two games.
If Team USA is going to win a gold medal, I think they'll need Hughes to play a significant role.
It's a win for the Americans, and a relatively<\/em> convincing one. But make no mistake, this has not been a great performance.
Yeah, it wasn't massively pretty, but the United States<\/strong> will be relieved to secure a 6-3 win against Denmark<\/strong> in the men's ice hockey preliminaries.
They trailed the Danes but pulled clear in the third period.
