In a tearful video posted Wednesday on Instagram, \u201cTODAY\u201d co-anchor Savannah Guthrie pleaded for more information from her 84-year-old mother\u2019s possible kidnapper, saying her family is \u201cready to talk.\u201d
Savannah Guthrie \u2014 reading from prepared remarks, speaking directly to a camera and seated alongside her two siblings \u2014 said her family was aware of reports about a ransom letter sent to at least two media outlets. \u201cWe are doing everything we can,\u201d she said.
\u201cHowever,\u201d she added, \u201cwe live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us.\u201d
In the Instagram video<\/a>, Savannah Guthrie \u2014 flanked by her sister, Annie Guthrie, and her brother, Camron Guthrie\u2014 thanked the public for \u201cthe prayers for our beloved mom,\u201d Nancy Guthrie, adding: \u201cWe feel them, and we continue to believe that she feels them, too.\u201d
She described her mother as a \u201ckind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light,\u201d a person who is \u201cfunny, spunky and clever.\u201d
\u201cShe has grandchildren that adore her and crowd around her and cover her with kisses,\u201d she said. \u201cShe loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her, and you\u2019ll see.\u201d
Savannah Guthrie, clutching her sister’s hand, said their mother\u2019s health and heart are fragile. \u201cShe lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive, and she needs it not to suffer.\u201d
In the closing seconds of the video, Savannah Guthrie spoke directly to her mother: \u201cMommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman, you are God\u2019s precious daughter Nancy.\u201d
Jim Cavanaugh, former Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives special agent in charge, stressed on \u201cTODAY\u201d that while the video does not confirm the authenticity of the reported random notes, it does show that the family still has questions and they are ready to listen.
He added that the video also \u201chumanizes\u201d Guthrie, noting that she \u201chas grandchildren.\u201d \u201cSo that\u2019s very important. I think it was excellent that they did that,\u201d he said Thursday.
Guthrie was reported missing from her home outside Tucson, Arizona, on Sunday afternoon after she did not show up at church. She was last seen around 9:45 p.m. the previous night, when family members dropped her off at her home.
The Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department believes Guthrie was taken \u201cpossibly in the middle of the night, and that includes possible kidnapping or abduction.\u201d State and federal law enforcement officials are involved in the investigation, including the FBI.
In a statement Wednesday, the sheriff\u2019s department said investigators have not identified a suspect or a person of interest. Authorities previously said they have no credible information that Guthrie\u2019s possible abduction was a targeted incident.
Authorities investigating Guthrie\u2019s disappearance returned to her Arizona home Wednesday afternoon. The driveway to the property outside Tucson was blocked by a black, unmarked vehicle.
A sheriff\u2019s spokesman said in a statement that \u201cdetectives are continuing to conduct follow-up at the home and in the neighborhood.\u201d
President Donald Trump said he would commit to send more resources to help. Trump called Savannah Guthrie<\/a> on Wednesday after his interview with NBC News\u2019 Tom Llamas, offering words of support for her and her family.
\u201cI spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family\u2019s, and Local Law Enforcement\u2019s, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY,\u201d Trump said Wednesday night on Truth Social<\/a>.

The man in charge of the FBI\u2019s role in the investigation was at the Guthrie family home Wednesday night, according to two people briefed on the events. That’s where the family’s video was believed to have been recorded, the two people said.
Two senior officials briefed on the investigation told NBC News earlier Wednesday that investigators are probing what appears to be blood found outside Guthrie\u2019s home. The officials said Guthrie\u2019s pacemaker appears to have disconnected from its monitoring app early Sunday.
Guthrie has limited mobility, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters Monday. He said that she has no cognitive issues and that her disappearance was not linked to dementia, describing her as \u201csharp as a tack.\u201d
