He will now \u2013 finally \u2013 face justice for his crimes,\u201d Landau said.<br \/>In a statement shortly after the US bombings, Maduro\u2019s government accused Washington of an \u201cextremely serious military aggression\u201d.<br \/>\u201cVenezuela rejects, repudiates, and denounces before the international community the extremely serious military aggression perpetrated by the current government of the United States of America against Venezuelan territory and people,\u201d the Venezuelan government said.<br \/>Here\u2019s a look at how other countries are also reacting to the US attack and \u201ccapture\u201d of Maduro.<br \/>\u201cAlerting the whole world that they have attacked Venezuela,\u201d Colombian President Gustavo Petro wrote in a series of statements posted on the social media platform X.<br \/>\u201cThe Republic of Colombia reiterates its conviction that peace, respect for international law, and the protection of life and human dignity must prevail over any form of armed confrontation,\u201d Petro said.<br \/>In a separate post, he said Colombia \u201crejects the aggression against the sovereignty of Venezuela and of Latin America\u201d.<br \/>Petro later announced the deployment of military forces to the Venezuelan border.<\/p>\n<p>President Miguel Diaz-Canel issued a sharply worded condemnation on social media, accusing Washington of carrying out a \u201ccriminal attack\u201d against Venezuela and calling for an urgent international response.<br \/>In a post on X, Diaz-Canel said Cuba\u2019s so-called \u201czone of peace\u201d was being \u201cbrutally assaulted\u201d, describing the US action as \u201cstate terrorism\u201d directed not only at the Venezuelan people but at \u201cOur America\u201d more broadly.<br \/>He ended the statement with the revolutionary slogan: \u201cHomeland or Death, We Shall Overcome.\u201d<br \/>In a statement posted by various Cuban embassies around the world, Havana said it \u201cdenounces the US military attack against Venezuela\u201d.<br \/>The statement also \u201cdemands an urgent reaction from the international community\u201d, describing the attack as \u201cstate terrorism\u201d.<br \/>In a statement posted on X, Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font expressed his government\u2019s \u201cconcern and condemnation\u201d of the US military actions in Venezuela.<br \/>\u201cWe call for seeking a peaceful solution to the serious crisis affecting the country,\u201d he said.<br \/>\u201cChile reaffirms its commitment to basic principles of International Law, such as the prohibition of the use of force, non-intervention, the peaceful settlement of international disputes, and the territorial integrity of States. The Venezuelan crisis must be resolved through dialogue and the support of multilateralism, and not through violence or foreign interference.\u201d<br \/>In a statement on X, President Claudia Sheinbaum said, \u201cMexico condemns the military intervention in Venezuela.\u201d<br \/>She also included in her post an article in the UN Charter which states: \u201cThe Members of the Organization, in their international relations, shall refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.\u201d<br \/>Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva condemned the US bombings and capture of Maduro as crossing \u201can unacceptable line\u201d.<br \/>\u201cAttacking countries, in flagrant violation of international law, is the first step toward a world of violence, chaos, and instability, where the law of the strongest prevails over multilateralism,\u201d Lula wrote on X.<br \/>He added that the US attacks recall the \u201cworst moments of interference\u201d in Latin American politics, threatening peace across the region. \u201cThe international community, through the United Nations, needs to respond vigorously to this episode,\u201d he said.<br \/>Bolivia\u2019s foreign ministry said in a statement posted on Facebook that the country \u201cexpresses its firm and immediate support for the Venezuelan people in the ongoing process of restoring their democracy, reinstating constitutional order, and fully guaranteeing human rights.\u201d<br \/>\u201cBolivia reiterates its commitment to peace, democracy, and coordination with the international community for humanitarian assistance, the protection of the civilian population, and support for a credible and lasting process of institutional reconstruction,\u201d it said.<br \/>\u201cThe Guyana Defence Force and the security forces are monitoring the situation [in Venezuela] and Guyanese should be reassured that the government is working to ensure the safety and security of our citizens,\u201d Guyanese President Irfan Ali commented to local reporters, according to Guyana\u2019s independent news outlet News Room.<br \/>\u201cThe security architecture is fully active,\u201d Ali said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier this morning, Saturday 3rd January 2026, the United States commenced military operations within the territory of Venezuela.
