ABC World News Tonight and CBS Evening News recorded week-to-week gains in both total viewers and the Adults 25-54 demo.
For the week of October 13, WNT experienced double-digit increases in the advertiser-coveted demo and had the most-watched newscast in 11 weeks.
After NBC Nightly News made some demo inroads the prior week, WNT made gains in the demo, stretching its lead over NBC News’ evening news program to a difference of 181,000 demo viewers.
Meanwhile, Nightly News was the only newscast not to see viewership growth across both measured categories.
Note: The weekly average of ABC News is based on three days (Tuesday to Thursday). Monday’s (10\/13\/25) broadcast was retitled to WNT-ABC due to the NFL, while Friday’s (10\/10\/25) broadcast was also retitled to WNT-ABC. These broadcasts were excluded from the weekly and season averages.<\/em>
According to national live+same day big data plus program ratings from Nielsen, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir<\/strong> averaged 7.658 million total viewers and 927,000 Adults 25-54 demo viewers for the week of October 13. The evening newscast grew by +6% in total viewers and +16% in the demo compared to the previous week<\/a>. Looking at its performance for the same week in 2024 (the week beginning Oct. 14<\/a>), WNT was up by +5% in total viewers but down -9% in the demo\u2014it was the only newscast to show growth in one of the two measured categories within this comparison.
Taking the No. 2 spot in total viewers and the demo was NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas<\/strong>, averaging 5.646 million and 746,000 viewers, respectively. The broadcast was flat in total viewers and down by -5% in the A25-54 demo. When comparing its performance to the same week a year ago, Nightly News declined by -1% in total viewers and -9% in the demo. 
CBS Evening News had 3.661 million total viewers and 432,000 viewers in the demo for the week of October 13. The broadcast was up by +3% in total viewers and +2% in the demo compared to the previous week. Its year-ago week numbers saw the newscast decline by -17% in total viewers and -37% in the demo\u2014the only program with double-digit losses within this comparison.
