Microsoft on Wednesday announced ongoing \u201cnetwork availability\u201d issues on Azure, its popular cloud platform.
Alaska Airlines wrote on X the technical issues caused \u201cdisruption to key systems, including our websites.\u201d
The issues are taking place within the Azure Front Door network, according to Microsoft.
The company is in the midst of rolling out a series of technical steps within the next hour that could begin resolving the issues.
Meanwhile, thousands of unofficial reports are pouring in Wednesday of issues with Amazon Web Services, the cloud computing platform that backs up numerous major companies and parts of the internet.
More than 6,000 crowd-sourced issue reports<\/a> have been filed today with the monitoring site Downdetector.
Amazon says the marquee service is running without incident.
\u201cAWS is operating normally,\u201d an AWS spokesperson told The Independent<\/em>. \u201cThe only resource on the internet that provides accurate data on the availability of our services is the AWS Health Dashboard<\/a>.\u201d
The claims of an outage come barely a week after an AWS issue caused problems across major applications like Snapchat<\/a>, Roblox<\/a>, Fortnite<\/a>, Duolingo<\/a> and Canva.
Users of popular Microsoft apps may be feeling the impacts of the ongoing issues with the Azure cloud, the company announced.
\u201cMicrosoft 365 services are experiencing downstream impact related to the ongoing Azure outage,\u201d it wrote<\/a> on X.
Multiple airlines say the ongoing issues at Azure have impacted crucial operations.
\u201cDue to a global outage impacting the Microsoft Azure platform where several Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines services are hosted, we are currently experiencing a disruption to key systems, including our websites,\u201d Alaska wrote<\/a> on X about an hour ago.
\u201cWtf is going on here?\u201d customer Justin Abel wrote<\/a> on X, along with pictures of a line at a check-in desk. \u201cI\u2019m going to miss my flight and your systems are unresponsive.\u201d
Microsoft says its Azure services will soon be back to normal.
\u201cWe have initiated the deployment of our ‘last known good’ configuration,\u201d the company just wrote on its Azure dashboard. \u201cThis is expected to be fully deployed in about 30 minutes from which point customers will start to see initial signs of recovery. Once this is completed, the next stage is to start to recover nodes while we route traffic through these healthy nodes.\u201d
Despite a brief surge in consumer issue reports on Wednesday, AWS says there is not an outage on its cloud platform.

Whenever there are issues with cloud service providers, their effects are soon felt across internet-connected apps and services throughout the economy.
According to unofficial crowd-sourced data on Downdetector, there has been a spike in reported issues today from users of the Xbox Network, Xfinity customers, Microsoft Teams users, and Starbucks rewards members.
While Amazon disputes reports of an AWS outage, Microsoft has publicly announced issues today on its Azure cloud platform.
\u201cStarting at approximately 16:00 UTC, customers and Microsoft services that leverage Azure Front Door (AFD) may have experienced issues resulting in latencies, timeouts and errors,\u201d the company wrote on the Azure website. \u201cWe have confirmed that an inadvertent configuration change as the trigger event for this issue.\u201d
There aren\u2019t any ongoing issues with AWS, according to Amazon.
\u201cAWS is operating normally,\u201d the company said in a statement.<\/a>
\u201cThe only resource on the internet that provides accurate data on the availability of our services is the AWS Health Dashboard.\u201d
That dashboard does not show any outages at the moment.
Another Amazon Web Services outage has reportedly hit, impacting thousands.
