{"id":161528,"date":"2025-08-22T01:44:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T01:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/quixnet.net\/wpinstance\/six-dead-in-accident-at-colorado-dairy-nbc-news\/"},"modified":"2025-08-22T01:44:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T01:44:07","slug":"six-dead-in-accident-at-colorado-dairy-nbc-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quixnet.net\/wpinstance\/six-dead-in-accident-at-colorado-dairy-nbc-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Six dead in accident at Colorado dairy &#8211; NBC News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Profile<br \/>Sections<br \/>Local<br \/>tv<br \/>Featured<br \/>More From NBC<br \/>Follow NBC News<br \/> news Alerts<br \/>There are no new alerts at this time<br \/>Six people were killed Wednesday at a Colorado dairy in an accident that is being investigated as toxic gas exposure, officials said.<br \/>Six bodies were recovered when firefighters responded to \u201ca confined space rescue\u201d around 6 p.m., Southeast Weld Fire District Chief Tom Beach.<br \/>The deaths are being investigated as possibly being the result of toxic gas exposure in a confined space, said Jolene Weimer, deputy chief coroner for Weld County.  <br \/>The accident occurred at Prospect Valley Dairy on Weld County Road 18 in Weld County, which is north of Denver, Weimer and the fire department said.<br \/>Dairy Farmers of America said the deadly accident happened at one of its member farms in Keenesburg, a small town off Interstate 76 in the southern part of the county.<br \/>&#8220;We are deeply saddened by this incident, and our thoughts and most sincere condolences go out to the friends and families of the deceased,&#8221; Dairy Farmers of America said. &#8220;At this early stage, we have no further details.&#8221;<br \/>Three other people were treated at a UCHealth hospital in Greeley and have been released, UCHealth told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com\/article\/news\/local\/colorado-dairy-deaths-weld-county\/73-cc70ae5d-7717-4c7c-a1f3-ef2e17230306\" target=\"_blank\">NBC affiliate KUSA of Denver<\/a>.<br \/>The Weld County Sheriff&#8217;s Office said that it responded but was not the lead agency and that nothing criminal has been discovered.<br \/>The names of the dead were not released, and their families were still being notified Thursday, Weimer said.
