The Silesia Diamond League takes place today, Saturday, August 16 from the Silesian Stadium in Chorz\u00f3w, Poland. With the World Championships fast approaching, the meet is one of the final major tune-ups, drawing top athletes and heightened anticipation.

World leader Melissa Jefferson-Wooden clocks a 10.66 (+0.1), just .01 off her own world-leading time from early August. Tia Clayton was second at 10.82, Marie Jos\u00e9e Ta Lou-Smith third at 10.87, Tina Clayton was fourth at 10.91, Jacious Sears fifth at 11.00, and Sha’Carri Richardson sixth at 11.00. 
World lead and Diamond League record of 46.28 for Karsten Warholm! Now through eight meets, Warholm finishes as the qualification points leader at 38. Rai Benjamin is second at 30 points, Matheus Lima is third in points with 23.
Shericka Jackson wins at 22.17 (-0.3) for a season best. Brittany Brown second clocked at 22.21, Favour Ofili third at 22.25. Jackson is now third in qualification standings through six of seven meetings, totaling 15 points.
Yared Nuguse earns an important win, holding off a hard-charging field at 3:33.19. Timothy Cheruiyot overcame multiple athletes on the inside over the final few meters for second at 3:33.35.
“This competition was exciting, a good atmosphere. Getting the win gives me confidence. My plan today was not to take the lead, just wait for my time, the last 300m. I felt really good on the last 300m and the kick came. I will race in Brussels and Zurich. I won in Zurich in 2023 and 2024 and I hope to win a third time this year there. My season is developing really well, but the best part is still to come.” – Yared Nuguse
Femke Boll lowered her own world lead to 51.91! This also takes down her own meet record of 52.13 from 2024. Emma Zapletalov\u00e1 finished second with a Slovakian national record of 53.58. Jasmine Jones was third at 53.64.
Kishane Thompson had a strong start and held on from there to win the 100-meter showdown against Noah Lyles for the victory 9.87 to 9.90 (+0.3). Thompson clocked a world-leading time of 9.75 back in June. For Lyles this 9.90 is a season best and breaks him into the top-12 for this year’s world rankings. Kenny Bednarek finished third at 9.96, Christian Coleman fourth at 9.96, Trayvon Bromell fifth at 9.97, and Courtney Lindsey sixth 10.05. 
“It is a great stepping stone. I needed to see a sub 10. I needed to see winning, beating people, I took out some really big heads today, people who run 9.7 and 9.8. I am getting the confidence. It makes me really excited for not only today but also for next week and Tokyo.” – Noah Lyles
Julius Yego hit a mark of 83.60 on his third attempt, and that performance held true through the finals to earn the win. Yego is now fifth in the qualification points standings through three of four meets, scoring 11 total.
Gudaf Tsegay earns the win with a meet record and season best 3:50.62, now tied for second in qualification points standings at 16 with Nelly Chepchirchir. Second in this race was Beatrice Chebet with a personal best 3:54.73, Georgia Hunter Bell 3:56.00 third, and Nikki Hiltz fourth at 3:56.10.
A Diamond League record by Masai Russell! She led the final with a time of 12:19 (+1.4). Russell has a world lead this season with a 12.17 (+2.0) from early May. Tonea Marshall finished second in the final running 12.24, Tobi Amusan third at 12.25.  
My goodness! Race winner Faith Kipyegon went after it, clocking 8:07.04! A world lead, meet record, and more, just off the all-time leading performance of 8:06.11 by Junxia Wang in 1993.

“It is all about Tokyo now. I am so happy. I wanted to run a longer distance. To be honest, I did not see the clock on the finish line because I was so tired. But now I am very satisfied with the time. I saw the world record red line during the race but today it was very hot. I want to come back here next year. I enjoyed the atmosphere, I am happy about it. I am grateful for what I have done. aTokyo is a championship race, so anything can happen.” – Faith Kipyegon
Marileidy Paulino closed strong to run down Eid Salwa Naser for the win, Paulino clocked 49.18, and Naser second 49.27.  Paulino leads the Diamond qualification standings through six of seven meetings at 24, Naser is tied for second overall with Lieke Klaver at 22 points each. Only five points separate the top seven in the qualification standings.
Olympic gold medalist Keely Hodgkinson clocks the 2025 world lead with a time of 1:54.74, well ahead of the field and also a meet record. Has a personal best of 1:54.61.
Armand Duplantis cleared the 6.10m bar for the victory and also took three attempts at 6.20m. Emmanouil Karalis went out at 6.00m for second.
Jasmine Moore claims the meet record with a winning mark of 6.85m (+0.2) on their fifth attempt in the series. A tight competition with Hilary Kpatcha second and Blaire Bryant third, both marked at 6.83m. 
Hamish Kerr clears the 2.33m bar, now tied for fourth in world rankings.  This is a season best for Kerr by .03m. JuVaughn Harrison finished second with a 2.28m clearance. 
Payton Otterdahl’s fifth throw in the series of 22.28m earned the victory over finalists Leonardo Fabbri, 22.10m, and Joe Kovacs, 21.82m. Through four of five meetings, Kovacs leads the Diamond qualification standings with 25 points, Otterdahl is second at 22, and Rajindra Campbell, who finished sixth today with a mark of 21.58m, is third overall with 20 points.
“This is a big improvement from the last meeting in Hungary. It is my third time here in Silesia and I enjoyed it a lot, I got my best result here this year. After the trials I came to Europe and it is a challenge coming over here, with the time. It takes a few days but I am feeling good now. I will compete in Lausanne and Zurich and then I will fly home to Nebraska for a week before heading to Japan for the world championships.” – Payton Otterdahl
Current world leader Bence Hal\u00e1sz won the hammer with a mark of 81.77m. He has a season best of 83.18m from August 12th. 
Camryn Rogers earns the hammer throw victory, hitting a mark of 75.39m, which came on the second throw of the series. Rogers is ranked second in the world rankings with a season best of 78.88m from July 5th.
