The brief lull in local and international news delivered a mixed plate of viewership engagement for all three evening broadcasts, with CBS Evening News experiencing a decline in viewership in both total day and the Adults 25-54 demographic for the week of June 16.
ABC World News Tonight with David Muir<\/strong> is the only newscast to see gains in both measured categories, while NBC’s Nightly News experienced losses in the demo.
Note: The weekly average of ABC News is based on two days (Tuesday and Wednesday). Monday’s broadcast (06\/16\/25) was retitled to WNT-ABC due to Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Thursday’s broadcast (06\/19\/2025) was coded as a special due to the Juneteenth holiday, and Friday’s broadcast was<\/em> retitled to WNT-ABC. These broadcasts were excluded from the weekly and season averages.<\/em>
According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, ABC World News Tonight averaged 7.448 million total viewers for the week of June 16. It saw gains of +3% in total viewers and +4% in the A25-54 demo, drawing 1.038 million viewers in the demo. Looking at its performance to the same week in 2024 (the week beginning June 17<\/a>), WNT was up +4% in total viewers and +9% in the demo.
NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas<\/strong> finished as the No. 2 broadcast in total viewers and the demo, averaging 5.678 million total viewers and 820,000 demo viewers. The broadcast was flat in total viewers but saw a -3% decline in the A25-54 demo. When comparing its performance to the same week a year ago, Nightly News was down in total viewers by -1% but up +11% in the demo.\u00a0
CBS Evening News had 3.981 million total viewers and 526,000 viewers in the demo for the week of June 16. The broadcast was down -4% in total viewers and the demo compared to the week prior. Its year-ago week numbers were down by -8% in total viewers and -15% in the demo.
