Paramount is the parent company of CBS.<br \/>The lawsuit, which was filed in the Northern District of Texas, sought $20 billion in damages. <br \/>\u201cThe settlement will include a release of all claims regarding any CBS reporting through the date of the settlement, including the Texas action and the threatened defamation action,\u201d the statement read.<br \/>A spokesperson for Trump&#8217;s legal team said in a statement that with the settlement, Trump &#8220;delivers another win for the American people as he, once again, holds the Fake News media accountable for their wrongdoing and deceit. CBS and Paramount Global realized the strength of this historic case and had no choice but to settle.&#8221;<br \/>Trump added his former doctor, Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, as a plaintiff to the suit in February, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/business\/story\/2025-02-08\/trump-amends-cbs-60-minutes-lawsuit-demands-20-billion\" target=\"_blank\">the Los Angeles Times reported<\/a>. Under the settlement, Paramount said in its statement, neither Trump nor Jackson would personally receive direct or indirect payment.<br \/>Paramount also said it agreed that in the future, \u201c60 Minutes\u201d will release transcripts of interviews with eligible U.S. presidential candidates after the interviews have aired, \u201csubject to redactions as required for legal or national security concerns.\u201d<br \/>\u201cThe settlement does not include a statement of apology or regret,\u201d the company said.<br \/>CBS News did not immediately respond to a request for comment. During Paramount\u2019s annual shareholders meeting later Wednesday, George Cheeks \u2014 CEO of CBS and co-CEO of Paramount \u2014 defended the decision to settle.<br \/>Cheeks cited the \u201csomewhat unpredictable cost of legal defense,\u201d the financial and reputational consequences of an adverse judgment and the potential business disruptions of a prolonged legal fight as reasons for settling.<br \/>\u201cSettlement offers a negotiated resolution that allows companies to focus on their core objectives, rather than being mired in uncertainty and distraction,\u201d he said, according to a recording of the meeting.<br \/>Paramount is seeking to complete an $8 billion merger with the media production group Skydance Media. The merger requires federal approval.<br \/>On Wednesday, Sen.
