Chelsea<\/a> have secured progression to the knockouts at the 2025 Club World Cup after a 3-0 win against Esperance.<\/strong>
Tosin Adarabioyo<\/a> and Liam Delap<\/a> scored in first-half stoppage time to give the Premier League<\/a> side a commanding lead after a less-than-impressive start. They were then convincing winners in the second half and Tyrique George<\/a> added a third seconds before full time.
They have advanced to the last 16 as Group D runners-up and will face Benfica in Charlotte on Saturday.
Flamengo were the winners of the group and closed out with a 1-1 draw against LAFC to set up a meeting with Bayern Munich<\/a> on Sunday.

Liam Delap showed today what he can offer Chelsea following his move from Ipswich Town \u2014 and he\u2019s looking forward to more service from Enzo Fernandez in future.

The only issue to be resolved before these two games kicked off, was who out of these two teams would finish second in the group.
And that will be Chelsea. They\u2019re still looking for a third goal too, albeit leisurely.
And just like that, Flamengo found its own breakthrough.
Wallace Yan, a 20-year-old product of their academy, collected a ball from Jorginho and placed a shot just beyond a diving Hugo Lloris to level things just two minutes after LAFC\u2019s first goal of the tournament. That is Yan\u2019s second straight game with a goal this tournament.

LAFC came into the Club World Cup with one tried-and-true trick: springing a quick break into Denis Bouanga\u2019s stride to spring a one-man transition goal.
Sure enough, Bouanga times his run on a well-executed indirect free kick from inside LAFC\u2019s half, getting one-on-one with goalkeeper Agustin Rossi and comfortably rolling his shot beyond the Argentine.
While the assist goes to free kick taker Timothy Tillman, the goal likely doesn\u2019t happen without Olivier Giroud, standing narrowly offside to give Flamengo\u2019s two-man offside trap a false sense of security as Bouanga began his sprint.

I have to say, that penalty drama has been totally out of keeping with a stodgy second half \u2014 one where Chelsea have total control and only the smoke from Esperance\u2019s previous fire remained, after it was put out just before half-time.

There will be SEVEN minutes of it too, with SIX of those probably attributable to the VAR penalty farce a little earlier.
