{"id":152156,"date":"2025-06-04T12:55:01","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T12:55:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/quixnet.net\/wpinstance\/maps-show-u-s-air-quality-and-canada-wildfire-smoke-forecast-cbs-news\/"},"modified":"2025-06-04T12:55:01","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T12:55:01","slug":"maps-show-u-s-air-quality-and-canada-wildfire-smoke-forecast-cbs-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quixnet.net\/wpinstance\/maps-show-u-s-air-quality-and-canada-wildfire-smoke-forecast-cbs-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Maps show U.S. air quality and Canada wildfire smoke forecast &#8211; CBS News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Watch CBS News<br \/>           <time datetime=\"2025-06-04T08:49:16-0400\">Updated on:  June 4, 2025 \/ 8:49 AM EDT<\/time>           \/ CBS News         <br \/>An air quality map shows conditions across the United States on Wednesday as Canadian <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/canada-wildfire-smoke-us-midwest-forecast-evacuations\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">wildfire smoke<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;is forecast to continue to spread across the country, prompting air quality alerts and advisories in multiple states.<br \/>The map shows parts of <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/minnesota\/news\/minnesota-weather-air-quality-alert-continues-june-3-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Minnesota<\/a><\/span>, Iowa and Wisconsin are facing unhealthy air, according to a federal measurement system called the <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/what-is-the-air-quality-index\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Air Quality Index<\/a><\/span>. <br \/>The index has six ratings:&nbsp;<br \/>Sensitive groups include those who have a heart or lung disease, as well as older adults, children and pregnant women.<br \/>Air quality advisories were issued for Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio, while alerts have been issued in New York State, Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Minnesota and Iowa, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/wwamap\/wwatxtget.php?cwa=usa&amp;wwa=Air%20Quality%20Alert\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">National Weather Service<\/a>.<br \/>New York City and some of the surrounding areas were under an air quality alert that will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET on Wednesday, <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/air-quality-alert-nyc-nj-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">CBS News New York<\/a><\/span> reported.<br \/>Wildfire smoke could be visible in other areas but may not impact air quality. In Maryland, for example, smoke had been expected to keep skies hazy overnight but remain at high altitudes, having little impact on the quality of air at the surface, <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/baltimore\/news\/smoky-skies-continue-across-maryland-temperatures-rise-close-to-90\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">CBS Baltimore reported<\/a><\/span>.<br \/>These Canadian wildfire smoke maps show where the smoke is forecast to move on Wednesday.<br \/>More than 200 fires are burning in Canada, with over 100 of them considered out of control, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciffc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre<\/a>.
