The\u00a0Marvel superhero adventure<\/a>, starring\u00a0actors\u00a0Anthony Mackie<\/a>\u00a0and Harrison Ford<\/a>, follows Sam Wilson (Mackie) as he takes up the Captain America shield in the wake of a global conspiracy that “puts him on a collision course with the fearsome Red Hulk,” according to Disney.
USA TODAY’s\u00a0Brian Truitt gave the film \u2605\u2605\u00bd out of four<\/a>, writing that director Julius Onah\u2019s geopolitically tinged \u201cBrave New World\u201d “is an unruly narrative that starts as a paranoia thriller (a la ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’) and devolves into a campy ‘Hulk smash!’ fest.”
However, Truitt praised\u00a0Mackie<\/a>, a 10-year veteran of the\u00a0Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/a>, saying he\u00a0“faithfully has taken the Captain America mantle from Chris Evans and given Cap new swagger and vulnerability.”

“Captain America: Brave New World” is available to\u00a0stream on Disney+<\/a>. The film released on the streaming platform on Wednesday, May 28 at 12 a.m. ET (9 p.m. PT on May 27).
The film, which made its\u00a0digital debut in April<\/a>\u00a0with the home video release featuring three deleted scenes, including one that\u00a0debuted exclusively on USA TODAY<\/a>, is already available to buy and rent on digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango.
“Captain America: Brave New World” was released in theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.
