The strike targeted Fahmi al-Jarjawi School, where families had been seeking refuge from ongoing Israeli bombardments. More than 55 people were injured in the attack, according to Fahmy Awad<\/strong>, head of the ministry\u2019s emergency service.
Israel\u2019s military said it targeted militants operating from the school. In joint statement with the security agency, Shin Bet<\/strong>, it said the school \u201cwas used by the terrorists to plan and gather intelligence in order to execute terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians and [army] troops\u201d.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees<\/strong> said Gaza\u2019s shelters are \u201coverwhelmed with displaced people desperately seeking safety\u201d, and \u201cno place is safe and no area has been spared from hostilities\u201d.

Hamas has agreed to a proposal made by the US special envoy Steve Witkoff for a Gaza<\/a> ceasefire, a Palestinian official close to the group told Reuters.
The new proposal, which is conditional to the release of ten hostages and 70 days of truce, was received by Hamas through mediators.
\u201cThe proposal includes the release of ten living Israeli hostages held by Hamas in two groups in return for a 70-day ceasefire and a partial withdrawal from the Gaza Strip,\u201d the source said.
