It calls for more training, better pay, and stronger legal protections for police officers. <br \/>Separately, the president signed an executive order directing the Department of Transportation to enforce rules requiring commercially licensed truck drivers \u2026 to be able to read and speak English. The administration says being able to read road signs and communicate with law enforcement is a matter of public safety. <br \/><strong>Russia-Ukraine latest <\/strong><strong><strong>\u00bb <\/strong><\/strong>Leavitt also told reporters that the president remains heavily focused on trying to broker an end to the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p><em>LEAVITT: The president has made it clear he wants to see a permanent ceasefire first to stop the killing\u2014stop the bloodshed. <\/em><br \/>Russia now says it\u2019s planning to temporarily halt its attacks against Ukraine next month \u2026 but only for a few days: from May 8th through the 10th. <br \/>Vladimir Putin says the unilateral ceasefire will mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.
