President Volodymyr Zelensky<\/a> has called on the West to amp up pressure on Russia<\/a> after it launched a deadly assault on Kyiv<\/a>.
As one person died in Kyiv, and three were injured, Ukraine<\/a>\u2019s leader said that \u201cpressure on Russia is still insufficient, and the daily Russian strikes on Ukraine prove it.\u201d
He said Kyiv wasn\u2019t the only region which suffered strikes, as the Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi and Cherkasy regions were also hit.
\u201cThe number of air attacks is increasing. This is how Russia reveals its true intentions\u2014to continue the terror for as long as the world allows it\u201d he said. \u201cEvery strike targets our people, our children. They are waging war against children playing on playgrounds.\u201d
Zelensky continued that the entire world had seen Russia \u201cintends to continue the war and the killing\u201d so there could be \u201cno easing of pressure\u201d in a pursuit of peace.
This comes as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio<\/a> has said that the world will know \u201cin a matter of weeks\u201d if Russia is \u201cserious about peace or not.\u201d
President Volodymyr Zelensky has spoken out after Russia targeted regions across Ukraine.
He said: \u201cThe pressure on Russia is still insufficient, and the daily Russian strikes on Ukraine prove it. Last night, ballistic missiles were launched against Kyiv, while attack drones targeted the region. Strikes also hit the Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, and Cherkasy regions.
\u201cThe number of air attacks is increasing. This is how Russia reveals its true intentions\u2014to continue the terror for as long as the world allows it. Over the past week, they launched more than 1,460 guided aerial bombs, nearly 670 attack drones, and over 30 missiles of various types against Ukrainian cities and villages, against our people\u2014more than 20 of them took place just last night.
\u201cEvery strike targets our people, our children. They are waging war against children playing on playgrounds. My condolences to all the families and loved ones of the victims. I thank all our services who are helping and saving Ukrainians.
\u201cThese attacks are Putin\u2019s response to all international diplomatic efforts. Each of our partners \u2014 the United States, all of Europe, the entire world \u2014 has seen that Russia intends to continue the war and the killing.
\u201cThat is why there can be no easing of pressure. All efforts must be aimed at guaranteeing security and bringing peace closer.\u201d
The death toll in Kryvyi Rih has continued to grow as 19 people are dead, including children, with a further 75 wounded.
Oleksandr Vilkul, head of Kryvyi Rih’s military administration, declared three days of mourning for the attack, starting on April 7. He said that there was \u201cpain in the hearts of millions of people\u201d.
\u201cTogether we will stand. And no matter how difficult it is, we will win,\u201d he said. \u201cThe enemy will be punished for every Ukrainian and for every mother’s tear.\u201d
Local authorities said the Kryvyi Rih strike damaged 44 apartment buildings and 23 private houses.
Yulia Svyrydenko, first deputy prime minister, accused Russia of exploiting the \u201cso-called \u2018ceasefire\u2019 to assault Ukraine\u2019s civilian population following an attack on Kyiv.
She said: \u201cIn the early hours of this morning, Russia launched a massive nationwide attack on Ukraine using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.
\u201cCivilian infrastructure was deliberately targeted across the country. Kyiv, and numerous other places came under fire\u2014from land, air, and sea.
\u201cRussia continues to exploit the so-called \u2018ceasefire\u2019 not for peace, but to escalate its assault on Ukraine\u2019s civilian population.\u201d
One man has died in Russia\u2019s attack on Kyiv, according to officials.
Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko, said in a Telegram message: \u201cThe body of a man killed in an enemy attack was found in the Darnytsia district. He was found on the street, near the epicenter of the explosion. The man’s identity is being established.\u201d
At least three people were injured in the attack on Ukraine\u2019s capital.
Ukraine\u2019s air force has said they downed 53 of 132 enemy air attack vehicles.
They said that Russia carried out a combined strike on Ukraine with air, ground and sea-based missiles and strike UAVs. They detected and escorted a total of 132 enemy air attack vehicles – 23 miles and 109 strike UAVs.
They were able to down 53 air targets, while a further 53 were lost in location without negative consequences.
As a result of the attack, Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy and Mykolaiv all suffered damages, injuries and losses.
