<\/a>President Donald Trump<\/a> demanded Governor of Maine<\/a> Janet Mills issue a \u201cfull throated apology\u201d to him after the two got into a heated dispute over the president\u2019s transgender athlete policy earlier this month.
Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday to make his demand, days after the Department of Education found that Maine had violated Title IX protections under the Trump administration by allowing transgender girls to compete on girls\u2019 sports teams and use girls\u2019 facilities.
The president said the \u201cstate of Maine\u201d apologized on behalf of the governor after Mills confronted Trump at a governors\u2019 meeting at the White House earlier this month, promising to take the president\u2019s executive order against transgender student-athletes to court.<\/a>
\u201c…We have not heard from the Governor herself, and she is the one that matters in such cases,\u201d Trump wrote on Truth Social.<\/a>
\u201cTherefore, we need a full throated apology from the Governor herself, and a statement that she will never make such an unlawful challenge to the Federal Government again, before this case can be settled,\u201d he added.
In addition to demanding an apology from Mills, Trump has used his social media platform to ramp up attacks on federal judges who have ruled against the implementation of some of his executive orders<\/a>.
Trump has issued a presidential memo<\/a> asking Attorney General Pam Bondi to \u201ctake all appropriate action\u201d against law firms to file challenges to the Trump administration\u2019s actions.
In the memo, Trump said the lawyers and law firms engage in \u201cunethical\u201d behavior by filing frivolous lawsuits that seek to delay the president\u2019s agenda \u2013 rather than challenge its legality.
He asked Bondi to investigate these and refer attorneys to disciplinary action whether it\u2019s terminating a federal contract with a law firm, reassessing security clearances, bringing claims of unethical behavior and more.

The Department of Education found that Maine violated Title IX protections by allowing a transgender girl to play in women’s and girls\u2019 sports. It comes after Trump signed an executive order banning trans athletes from competing on the team that aligns with their gender identity.
At the heated meeting last month, Mills told the president, \u201cwe\u2019ll see you in court\u201d after clashing over the issue.

The Department of Homeland Security said it would revoke legal protections for approximately 532,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans who have come to the United States since October 2022 under a humanitarian parole program.

Despite the pressure food banks find themselves under, with funding down from pandemic highs and inflation high, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has chosen to pause and review existing programs, canceling some $500 million in deliveries.
Such an interruption can have serious consequences for people reliant on food banks \u2014 one in every six Americans \u2014 and especially those in rural areas.

Food banks across the country \u2014 already facing huge cuts to locally grown food assistance \u2014 learned this week that the U.S. Department of Agriculture is canceling $500 million in expected food deliveries, further disrupting help at a time when need continues to rise.<\/em>
Vince Hall, chief government relations officer at Feeding America, the country\u2019s largest hunger-relief organization, said some local food banks and food pantries were told that USDA deliveries of commodities such as cheese and meat are being canceled at least temporarily. Many others were not notified by federal officials that their deliveries were not coming, he said.<\/em>
Hall characterized the USDA\u2019s decision as a pause to review existing programs and said his organization is hoping the administration will resume purchases and deliveries \u201cwith minimum disruption on the flow of food.\u201d Groups working in rural areas, which rely more on government food than gleaning, would be especially hard hit by a lack of commodities, he said.<\/em>
