We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.<br \/><a href=\"\/topic\/donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a> has hailed the <a href=\"\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/trump-elon-musk-visa-immigration-b2671018.html\">H-1B visa program for skilled workers as \u201cgreat\u201d<\/a> claiming to have always been in favor of it. <br \/>Speaking to <em>The New York Post<\/em>, the president-elect sided with <a href=\"\/topic\/elon-musk\">Elon Musk<\/a> and <a href=\"\/topic\/vivek-ramaswamy\">Vivek Ramaswamy<\/a>, after they both defended the need for hiring overseas workers in tech, engineering, and other sectors. <br \/>Ramaswamy, who will lead the outside commission known as the Department of Government Efficiency alongside Musk, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/VivekGRamaswamy\/status\/1872312139945234507\">said on X <\/a>that US culture instilled the wrong values in its young: \u201cA culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers.\u201d<br \/>\u201cThere is a permanent shortage of excellent engineering talent,\u201d Musk <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1871956518213656728\">wrote<\/a> on Wednesday on X. \u201cIt is the fundamental limiting factor in Silicon Valley.\u201d<br \/>Their statements triggered pushback from \u201cAmerica First\u201d hardliners, including <a href=\"\/topic\/steve-bannon\">Steve Bannon<\/a>.
