The missile caused minor damage upon hitting its targets in <a href=\"\/topic\/ukraine\">Ukraine<\/a>\u2019s east, two officials said, because it was carrying dummy warheads.<br \/><a href=\"\/topic\/vladimir-putin\">Vladimir Putin<\/a> has called the Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile strike a successful test and claimed it reached its target \u2013 a missile and defence facility.<br \/>Earlier, <a href=\"\/topic\/downing-street\">Downing Street<\/a> rejected Russia\u2019s \u201cbaseless\u201d allegations that an expelled British diplomat in <a href=\"\/topic\/moscow\">Moscow<\/a> was a spy. <br \/>The Russian FSB security service named the diplomat, whose photo was splashed across TV news bulletins, as Edward Wilkes and alleged he had intentionally provided false information when he entered Russia \u2013 a claim disputed by the UK <a href=\"\/topic\/foreign-office\">Foreign Office<\/a> as \u201cmalicious and baseless\u201d.<br \/>And <a href=\"\/topic\/ukraine\">Ukraine<\/a> is withdrawing around 100,000 faulty 120mm mortar shells from the frontline after multiple reports of them misfiring.
