March 18, 1964 — A delegation of Luray High School seniors and parents appeared before the Page County School Board Monday evening requesting permission for a Luray High senior trip to New York and the World’s Fair, which would require three school days plus the weekend.
It was ruled that while this trip should preferably be made after graduation with no loss of school time, it would be permitted under certain conditions. The conditions require chaperoning, planning and preparation by parents or non-school personnel and, while the trip will not be sanctioned as a school sponsored trip, seniors whose parents request same in writing shall be permitted three days of excused absence from school in order to make the trip.
No school personnel, teachers or principals, will be permitted to accompany the group.
