The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers are facing off in Game 5 as Dodger Stadium hosts World Series baseball for the final time in 2025.
With the Series tied 2-2, tonight determines who will head to Toronto one game away from becoming world champions.
Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit back-to-back home runs off of Blake Snell to open the game, before Kiké Hernández responded with a solo shot of his own in the third inning to get L.A. on the board. Toronto has since extended its lead to 6-1 with a run in the fourth, two in the seventh and another in the eighth.
Blue Jays starter Trey Yesavage, 22, broke the MLB record for most strikeouts by a rookie in a World Series game with 12.

In the previous 19 World Series that were tied at 2-2, when the road team won Game 5, it went on to win 15 of those 19 World Series.
(This doesn't count the 2020 bubble year.)

Everything we said Trey Yesavage needed to do Game 1 and he didn’t do, he did tonight. Cool as a cat from the first hitter on. He was locked. Delivery was solid all game. Hardly pitched out of the stretch. Had hitters off-balanced all game.
He didn’t give an inch.

You can practically hear Alex Call saying “Rats!” in this photo after striking out in the fifth inning.
On Alan Porter, who is home plate umpire tonight …
It’s funny. When you are a crew chief and have fill in umpires coming up and down throughout the season, you can get a feel for a guy’s talent and or potential.
I’ve had guys that at first you weren’t quite sure, but they grew into the role as they got more comfortable and more confident.
And you have guys at times that come up and you would think they’ve been there for years/
Alan was one of those. Not cocky, just good.

For those keeping score at home, the Blue Jays are six outs from having the Dodgers on the brink of elimination for the first time since … Game 4 of the NLDS last year.
John Schneider not being afraid to send Isiah Kiner-Falefa there first pitch is that constant pressure that wears teams down. Giving away nothing. It’s mentally exhausting for an opponent, and it’s really showing on the Dodgers tonight.
It’s tough to beat a team when you feel like you have to almost be perfect every game.
