Two European powers go at it with a spot in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final on the line, as Paris Saint-Germain squares off with Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Both sides got to this point by playing in a couple of wild quarterfinals last Saturday.
PSG was tasked with taking on Bayern Munich in a high-profile match. It looked like the two sides were on their way to extra time, but a couple of late goals from Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele, with Dembele’s tally coming with PSG only having nine players, pushed Paris to an astounding 2-0 win.
It looked as if Real Madrid was well in control against another Bundesliga squad, leading Borussia Dortmund for most of the match. However, Dortmund pressed late in stoppage time, cutting the deficit to one and coming with inches of sending the contest into extra time. Yet, Real Madrid hung on for a 3-2 victory.
Madrid is the winningest team in CWC history, having won five titles, the last coming in 2022. In their first Club World Cup appearance, PSG hopes to build on its UEFA Champions League win to bring home even more hardware.
