Vogue World is coming to San Francisco in 2027 – USA Today

August 7, 2026 by quixnet

One of international fashion’s most important cultural events, Vogue World, is set to take the stage in San Francisco in 2027, after Vogue announced its return stateside.
The one-day event aims to combine the cultural influence of its host city with the daring fashion that dances across the pages of the magazine, featuring some of the biggest celebrities in outfits created by some of the most influential fashion pioneers. Previous tours have been hosted in New York, London, Hollywood and Paris, however, 2027’s event is set to be different.
“Vogue believes in celebrating cities, and San Francisco is a city like none other,” Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s chief content officer and the global editorial director of Vogue said in the announcement. “It’s a place of diverse communities living side by side, a place that loves the arts, loves creativity, and isn’t afraid of change.”
“There’s a history of rebelliousness here, as well as incredible innovation. I love that San Francisco has always stood up for its values, and the things it believes in. We think it’s the perfect setting for Vogue World 2027.”
For many, the idea of fashion and San Francisco doesn’t conjure the image of international influence; instead, it paints a picture of a person wearing a tech casual outfit or a person decked out in layers to protect from the unpredictable weather. In 2011, GQ even ranked San Francisco as the 20th worst-dressed city in America.
However, many forget about the city’s historical influence on the fashion industry, from Levi Strauss & Co. revolutionizing denim as the company developed the modern concept of riveted denim pants, which became a staple of American fashion; to the influence of the city’s counterculture community, which brought a fashion language that challenged traditional norms.
“Creativity and free expression have been the engine of San Francisco for generations, and that spirit will be on full display at Vogue World 2027,” said Daniel Lurie, San Francisco’s mayor in the announcement.
“Thanks to our ecosystem of talented designers, musicians, and small businesses—and the artists and workers behind them—visitors are coming to our city, and our economy is recovering,” he added. “Vogue World will support San Francisco’s creative minds and strengthen the entire ecosystem—and it will offer another opportunity to show the world that San Francisco is on the rise.”
The illustrious event, Vogue World, debuted in 2022 with a New York City show and street fair celebrating Vogue’s 130th anniversary.
The last time the event was held in the States was in 2025, for Vogue World: Hollywood, which stood as a celebration of the history and culture of California.
The event brought out celebrities like Doja Cat, Gracie Abrams, Nicole Kidman, Kendall Jenner, and other stars to perform and walk the runway at the historic Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.
This year’s event, Vogue World: Milano, is set for Sept. 22, and will honor the “craftsmanship and human ingenuity in the age of technology.” The show’s creative director, Juan Costa Paz of Convoy, will also be leading the San Francisco show.
Vogue did not announce the theme of its San Francisco show in Thursday’s announcement.
