ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — There are 16 venues for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but only one can be the best.
USA Today tapped Mercedes-Benz Stadium, known as Atlanta Stadium during the tournament, as the best venue, beating out state-of-the-art venues such as SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles or cathedrals of the sport such as Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
The newspaper praised Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s retractable roof and state-of-the-art video board and Atlanta’s passionate fanbases.
Notably, the ranking sees final venue MetLife Stadium at the bottom, saying the New Jersey stadium “is hard to get to and has a serious identity problem.”
