SANTA CLAUS, Ind. — Southwestern Indiana’s Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari is featured in USA TODAY/10BEST readers’ choice poll again this year for having some of the best attractions at any theme park in the nation.
Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari cracked the top 10 in five categories, with three wins in one category for Best Water Coaster.
Holiday World opens for the season on Saturday, May 9, and Splashin’ Safari will follow on May 16. Here’s the award-winning attractions visitors will see.
The Wildebeest is USA TODAY readers’ favorite water coaster in the country.
The Wildebeest is 64 feet tall, and its track is 1,710 feet long.
Riders will hit a max speed of 36 feet per second during a ride that lasts two minutes and 30 seconds.
The Mammoth was voted the fifth-best water coaster in the nation by USA TODAY readers.
During the three-minute ride, parkgoers reach speeds up to 20 mph and heights of 69 feet on the 1,763-foot-long track.
The Cheetah Chase was named the seventh-best water coaster in the nation, making it the third Holiday World attraction on the list of 10.
According to the theme park, the water coaster features two water-powered racing slides covering more than 1,700 feet of track.
The Bahari River at Splashin’ Safari placed as the fourth-best lazy river in the nation.
Park attendees can grab an inner tube and hop in the water for a meander around the 1,100-foot-long lazy river. It’s also 20 feet wide, so there’s plenty of room for families to stay connected as they take the journey.
As a whole, Splashin’ Safari was named the second-best outdoor water park in the country.
The water park has 16 slides, rides and attractions to choose from. There’s also multiple options for food and shopping in this area of the park.
The Voyage was rated the sixth-best roller coaster in the country.
According to Holiday World, the Voyage is 1.2 miles long, making it one of the world’s longest wooden coasters.
During the nearly three-minute ride, the carts reach speeds up to 67.4 mph.
And finally, Holiday World as a whole was voted the eighth-best theme park in the country by USA TODAY readers.
