Defending champion Jannik Sinner (1) plays arch rival Carlos Alcaraz (2) in today’s U.S. Open men’s singles final.
President Donald Trump is at today’s final — and US Open organizers have asked broadcasters not to highlight any negative reactions to his attendance.
The start time of the final has been delayed until 2.37 p.m. ET “as a result of the security measures in place” because of Trump’s attendance, the USTA said.
… but outside the long wait goes on as security checks continue.

Jannik Sinner is a hard man to read on court — the Italian is a cool cookie under the pressure of a great rivalry and in one of the biggest occasions of the year.
He told UK broadcaster Sky Sports about how he feels about playing in front of the biggest crowd of the season on Ashe tonight.
💬 “Pressure is everywhere you go but this is the last Grand Slam. The stage is the biggest stage we have, everything is big here so you can feel it. Very important people come to watch matches, we feel it as players. It pushes us to do the best we can.”
There are still thousands of fans in long lines waiting to pass security checks at Flushing Meadows.
This men’s singles final is the hottest ticket in town tonight and while we wait for the delayed start to this match, stars continue to arrive on the ‘blue carpet’.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is said to be on his way to Ashe, while actors Courteney Cox, Jessica Alba and Lindsay Lohan are all here.
Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez is also in attendance.
The players are now expected to walk onto the court at 2.37 p.m. ET.

The final is supposed to have started!
While fans continue to make their way through extensive security checks due to the President’s attendance at this match, Donald Trump has taken his seat inside Arthur Ashe.
A lot of fans are still struggling to get into Arthur Ashe Stadium, even despite the delayed start time. And we’ve just received the following email, from Lenore, who says the queues outside the grounds are even worse.
📧 “We have been sitting outside the general parking lot at the U.S. Open for 2 hours. We have courtside tickets but can’t actually get into the arena because we can’t park. Drivers are losing their cool. All roads are closed.”

Seated directly across from me in the upper bowl are two fans. One is wearing red pants. The other is sporting a green sweater.
The Italian colours are on point. I wonder who they will be cheering for today.
The scene outside in Fountain Plaza less than an hour until first ball. Lots of fans lining up to get into Arthur Ashe Stadium or scurrying to get a Honey Deuce or one last piece of merchandise before the tournament ends.

The start of the 2025 U.S. Open final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz has been delayed.
From the USTA: “As a result of the security measures in place, and to ensure that fans have additional time to get to their seats, we have pushed the start time of today’s match to 2:30 p.m. ET.”
There’s always great fanfare about the walk to the court before a final. At Wimbledon, it’s a long stroll for both players from the locker room to Centre Court.
This is where the players walk through before entering Arthur Ashe Stadium. As you can see there are black and white photos of champions past and present. Two of them include Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, playing in today’s final.
You can feel the history in these walls. The anticipation is building before the players step onto the court for the U.S. Open final.
Here are the last 10 winners of the U.S. Open men’s singles title…
Reaching the final four is familiar territory for Carlos Alcaraz these days, and he has done it here in New York City without dropping a set.
Here is how he progressed to this point:

The conversations between coaches and player before they play in a slam final. What are they talking about?
Fascinating to see these intimate moments between Jannik Sinner and his team earlier as he tries to add another slam to his growing list of accomplishments.
As for Jannik Sinner, the memory of holding the men’s singles trophy here is a little fresher.
It was just one year ago that Sinner won at Flushing, although he has held plenty of silverware since then.
