That’s all our coverage on the US election for now, but we’ll be back later today with all the latest updates.
We found out today that Joe Biden will meet president-elect Donald Trump at the Oval Office on Wednesday.
Mr Biden is expected to urge Mr Trump not to abandon Ukraine when he takes office in January.
On the topic of Ukraine, we also heard from Russia, with the Kremlin denying that Vladimir Putin had spoken to Mr Trump about the war.
Mr Trump had reportedly urged the Russian president not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of America’s sizeable military presence in Europe during the conversation on Thursday.
Back on the home front, Mr Trump confirmed the appointments of several people to his administration, including:
We’ll be back later today with live updates…
Donald Trump has reportedly selected Republican congressman Mike Waltz to be his national security adviser.
A source familiar with the matter told our US partner site NBC News that the retired army Green Beret had been appointed.
Mr Waltz has been a leading critic of China and a big supporter of Mr Trump.
He served in the National Guard as a colonel and has voiced the need for the US to be ready for a potential conflict in the Asia-Pacific region.
The US national security adviser is responsible for coordinating the country’s top security agencies and briefing the president.
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala has said he had “a great call” with Donald Trump today.
The leaders spoke about Ukraine, Israel and the Middle East, Mr Fiala said, as well as the president elect’s late wife Ivana, who was of Czech origin.
“I am looking forward to our close cooperation,” he added.
Mr Fiala is a conservative politician who leads a four-party coalition government,
He is a staunch supporter of Ukraine and his country is one of the biggest allies of Israel in the European Union.
Donald Trump has tapped House Republican Conference chair and long-time ally Elise Stefanik to serve as ambassador to the United Nations.
“I am honoured to nominate Chairwoman Elise Stefanik to serve in my Cabinet as US ambassador to the United Nations. Elise is an incredibly strong, tough, and smart America first fighter,” the president-elect said.
Ms Stefanik said she was “truly honoured” by the nomination.
“I stand ready to advance President Donald J. Trump’s restoration of America first peace through strength leadership on the world stage on day one at the United Nations,” she said in a statement.
The 40-year-old has been a staunch defender of Israel in its war against Hamas in Gaza, and has been outspoken against antisemitism.
She has served in the House of Representatives since 2015 and represents New York’s 21st Congressional District, which covers upstate New York, bordering Vermont and Canada.
Over in Russia, Donald Trump’s victory has had people talking.
Many believe he is likely to negotiate an end to the Ukraine war largely on Moscow’s terms.
His running mate JD Vance has previously said that Russia will keep the land it has taken and receive a guarantee of Ukrainian neutrality.
“Trump is a businessman so there is a glimmer of hope that he will abandon the military methods of escalation and perhaps the situation will improve,” one woman said.

Donald Trump’s eldest granddaughter Kai has shared a vlog from inside the Trump camp on Election Day.
In the clip, the 17-year-old describes how she will be spending time with her grandad before the results come in and “always waits last minute” to decide on an outfit.
The teenager – the daughter of Donald Trump Jr and his ex-wife Vanessa – also tells viewers “she hasn’t seen her grandpa in a while” and she is “super excited to see him”.
She concludes her video by offering some thoughts on her grandad’s win, saying: “He’s such a unique person and fights every day for America.”
The president-elect is “all about the short-term”, our US correspondent Mark Stone says.
Describing what could happen with the war in Ukraine, Stone says: “Trump likes to win and I don’t think we are going to have a scenario for the next four years at least where Trump presides over anything where Putin is seen to have won.
“But Trump is all about the short-term, not the long-term and we could get to a situation where the killing stops and the frontline is frozen and for four years Trump looks like the hero who has made peace.
“What happens down the line? Trump is out of here in four years and Putin may not be.
“So in the long term it would be hard to know what this means for Ukraine.”
Donald Trump may be “willing to put pressure on Ukraine” so he can “deliver what he has promised to his base”, the former special adviser to the commanding general of the US army in Europe has told Sky News tonight.
Mark Voyager said Trump was “no doubt an isolationist” and he would be willing to focus on a domestic agenda for the US.
“He would be willing to put pressure on Ukraine, in my opinion, in order to deliver peace not for the sake of justice or restoring Ukraine’s sovereignty and punishing Russian aggression but rather peace for the sake of peace itself,” he said.
“This way he can deliver what he has promised to his base.
“This means come January we might expect him to try to offer a deal which will only in my opinion materialise if Trump puts enough pressure on Ukraine by threatening to hold vital aid.
“I don’t think he has any leverage to influence Vladimir Putin’s behaviour or Russia.”
Mr Voyager added there was “no reason for Putin to negotiate in good faith”.
“It will be detrimental to the future of Ukraine as we know it,” he said.
Donald Trump has said he will appoint former congressman Lee Zeldin to run the Environmental Protection Agency.
In a statement on Truth Social, the president-elect said: “He will ensure fair and swift deregulatory decisions that will be enacted in a way to unleash the power of American businesses, while at the same time maintaining the highest environmental standards, including the cleanest air and water on the planet.”
Mr Zeldin, who left Congress in 2023, was among the Republicans in Congress who voted against certifying the 2020 election results.
While in Congress, he did not serve on committees with oversight of environmental policy.
Elon Musk has been a regular presence at Mar-a-Lago nearly every day since Election Day, our partner network NBC News reports, citing two sources who have seen him.
Asked to describe the relationship between Musk and Trump currently, one source said Musk can best be considered an “informal advisor and friend”.
They added that the Tesla CEO did not have a specific portfolio in the transition or administration.
Musk has become one of the most powerful figures in Trump’s orbit these days.
He endorsed Trump after the Republican survived an assassination attempt in July and poured more than $119m into backing Trump’s campaign.
Trump praises Musk frequently and tells crowds about his awe watching SpaceX rocket landings.
