Donald Trump has sued CBS over its “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris, claiming it was doctored despite the network explaining why two clips of different answers were aired. Discussing the suit on stage in Nevada, the former president said “we’re gonna have to lock them up”.

That’s it for our live coverage of the US election this evening, thanks for following along.
Before we go, let’s recap what happened today.
Harris slams Trump’s women comment
Kamala Harris, on stage in Nevada, slammed Donald Trump over his comments on women made last night.
A reminder Mr Trump said at a rally that he would protect women whether they like it or not.
“On the issue of freedom – Donald Trump is not done,” Ms Harris said of the comments.
“He does not think women should have authority or agency over their own bodies,” she adds.

Trump sues CBS
Donald Trump filed a lawsuit in Texas against news network CBS.
Seeking $10bn, the former president alleged that the network had edited a Kamala Harris “60 Minutes” interview released at the start of the month.
The network has vehemently denied any suggestion it misled the public.
The lawsuit centres on a question asked of Ms Harris about why Benjamin Netanyahu was not listening to the US in Israel’s approach to Gaza and the crisis in the Middle East.
CBS Face the Nation aired a different part of her answer than CBS’s 60 Minutes, with the lawsuit alleging the latter excluded a “word salad” response.
Mr Trump said on stage in Nevada: “We’re gonna have to lock them up.”
RFK set for role in Trump’s administration?
We got the clearest indication yet that Robert F Kennedy – the former independent presidential candidate who withdrew and fell in behind Donald Trump – could have a role in government under the Republican should he win.
The current thinking is that the role for RFK would be spearheading what a source described as the “Operation Warp Speed for childhood chronic disease”, referring to the title of the COVID-19 vaccine development project during Mr Trump’s first term.
At this evening’s rally in Nevada, Donald Trump praised RFK, saying that he would “work on health and women’s health” in a second of his administrations.
More celebrity endorsements
More big names came out to support candidates today, with Madonna and Lebron James throwing their weight behind Kamala Harris.
Musk a no-show at court
A hearing over Elon Musk’s cash giveaways to voters was scheduled for early this morning, but there was no sign of the Tesla boss at the court in Philadelphia.
The pro-Trump billionaire had been ordered to attend the hearing, where a judge is considering a bid to halt his $1m giveaways with just days to go before the election.
Mr Musk’s failure to appear could put him at risk of being held in contempt of court.
Georgia’s secretary of state has said there was “targeted disinformation” circulating online related to the upcoming presidential election that was likely a result of “foreign interference attempting to sow discord and chaos”.
Brad Raffensperger’s office said: “Earlier today, our office became aware of a video purporting to show a Haitian immigrant with multiple Georgia ID’s claiming to have voted multiple times.
“This is false, and is an example of targeted disinformation we’ve seen this election. It is likely foreign interference attempting to sow discord and chaos on the eve of the election.”
White House press officials altered the official transcript of a call in which President Joe Biden appeared to call supporters of Donald Trump “garbage”, according to sources cited by the Associated Press.
The move drew objections from the federal workers tasked with recording the president’s remarks for posterity, AP said.
President Biden created an uproar earlier this week with his remarks to Latino activists – as he was responding to racist comments by a comedian at a Trump rally in New York.
Tony Hinchcliffe referred to the US island territory of Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage”.
Mr Biden, according to a transcript prepared by the official White House stenographers, said: “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters – his – his demonisation of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American.”
The transcript released by the White House press office, however, wrote the quote with an apostrophe.
It says “supporter’s” rather than “supporters,”, which aides said pointed to Mr Biden criticising Mr Hinchcliffe and not Trump supporters. not the millions of Americans who are supporting Trump for president.

The change was made after the press office “conferred with the president”, according to an internal email from the head of the stenographers’ office that was obtained by AP.
Watch: ‘250 million Americans are not garbage’
A bit more on Robert F Kennedy’s role in a potential future Trump administration.
At this evening’s rally in Nevada, Donald Trump praised RFK, saying that the vaccine sceptic would “work on health and women’s health” in a second of his administrations.
“Robert F Kennedy Jr we have,” Mr Trump said, referring to Mr Kennedy’s endorsement.
“And he’s going to work on health and women’s health and all of the different reasons, because we’re not really a wealthy or a healthy country,” he added, to applause.
A reminder that earlier sources indicated that Mr Kennedy would be offered a key health position in Mr Trump’s potential government (see 00.14 post).
The Harris campaign today released two new ads – one focused on abortion rights and another on the economy – with just five days to go until election day.
In the first ad, a 2016 clip of Donald Trump plays in which he tells MSNBC’s Chris Matthews that “there has to be some form of punishment” for women who receive abortions.
A narrator picks up after that, telling viewers: “The punishment is real.
“Women denied care, unable to get pregnant again, traumatised, scarred for life. Young women who didn’t need to die. Now, one in three women live under a Trump abortion ban.”
The narrator warns: “If he’s elected, everyone will.”
Mr Trump has said states should have the ultimate say on whether to place restrictions on abortions. He has also said he would veto a national abortion ban
The second ad features Kamala Harris talking directly to viewers, telling them: “Next January, one of us will be president.
“If it’s Donald Trump, he will wake up every day and stew over his enemies list… If I am president, I’ll be focused on my to-do list, for you, the American people.”
Mr Trump has repeatedly said he would seek to prosecute his political enemies if elected.

President Joe Biden held a series of calls with Democratic leaders today to talk about the state of key races across the country, according to the White House.
The president called the chairs of the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Governors Association to discuss how the electoral battles are going.
The White House also said that Mr Biden called North Carolina attorney general Josh Stein to wish him good luck in his gubernatorial race against Mark Robinson.
Across the state, Kamala Harris has just walked out on stage.
We’ll be across any key lines from the Democrat’s rally in Reno right here.
Donald Trump is still speaking in Henderson, having started more than an hour ago.
Donald Trump has just addressed his CBS lawsuit on stage here in Nevada.
A reminder that the former president is suing the network for $10bn over a Kamala Harris interview he says was edited – which CBS has strongly refuted (see 21.11 post for all the detail on that).
“That’s called election interference fraud, so we sued them today and I think CBS should lose its license,” he says on stage.
“We’ll see… we’re gonna have to lock them up,” he adds.

Robert F Kennedy Jr could be primed for a key health position in a potential Trump administration, according to sources cited by our partner NBC News.
The current thinking is that the role for the former independent candidate – who dropped his campaign to support Donald Trump – would be spearheading what one of the sources described as the “Operation Warp Speed for childhood chronic disease”, referring to the title of the COVID-19 vaccine development project during Mr Trump’s first term.
There is significant common ground between the Trump campaign and Mr Kennedy on preventing conditions such as obesity and diabetes in children, a person familiar with the plans said, stressing that plans are still fluid and nothing has been decided.
Mr Kennedy recently claimed that Mr Trump promised him “control of the public health agencies”, including the Department of Health and Human Services and its sub-agencies – the CDC, the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health.
The Trump campaign told NBC that nothing has been confirmed, but that Mr Trump is keen to work with Mr Kennedy.
