UConn ousts Duke – USA Today

March 30, 2026 by quixnet

Welcome to the Daily Briefing. Start your morning with these stories:
Nicole Fallert here. Sip your coffee and catch up with our News Quiz. Monday’s headlines include a buzzer-beating Elite Eight finale, ongoing airport wait times and why you should go on a walk today.
It truly was March Madness: UConn’s first-year shooter Braylon Mullins took a pass from Alex Karaban at the logo and heaved it with 0.4 seconds left in the Elite Eight game Sunday. The ball hit the twine and UConn eliminated Duke 72-70 to get to the Final Four in miraculous fashion.
After four rounds, 64 teams have been sent home and four remain in the NCAA Men’s Tournament: Connecticut, Arizona, Michigan and Illinois are en route to Indianapolis to try to win it all.
In the women’s tournament, UConn and UCLA advanced to the Final Four on Sunday. The other two teams will be decided Monday.
No Kings Protest
Staunton, Virginia; Beaver, Pennsylvania; Eugene, Oregon; Chillicothe, Ohio: No Kings marches across the country over the weekend had the broadest geographic reach of any single-day protest in the United States in more than a half-century. Protestors (many with unique signs) were an unmistakable display of political force that could reverberate in the 2026 midterms and beyond.
Health & Wellness
Sometimes the most proven weight-loss strategies are also the simplest. After all, walking requires no gym membership, expensive equipment or specialized training and is accessible to nearly everyone and can be done almost anywhere. But walking does more than simply burn calories, says Dr. Michael Fredericson, director of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Stanford University. He explains that it also improves how the body handles blood sugar and insulin.
