South Florida high schools are among the most highly ranked in the state, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The publication recently released its 2026-2027 rankings of the best high schools, nationally and broken down by state — five of the top 10 in Florida are located in Miami-Dade County, the country’s third-largest school district, while one is located in Palm Beach County.
According to U.S. News & World Report, the publication ranked schools based on “six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.”
Marine Academy of Science and Technology (MAST@FIU), located on Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay campus, was second among Florida public schools, beat only by Pine View School in Osprey. Nationally, MAST@FIU ranked 31st, while Pine View School ranked 13th.
Miami’s Archimedean Upper Conservatory Charter School was fourth on the list in Florida, while Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy, located in Hialeah, placed sixth. Nationally, the schools ranked 39th and 55th, respectively.
Suncoast Community High School, located in Riviera Beach, placed eighth in Florida and 81st nationally.
I Preparatory Academy, located in Miami, was ninth on the list and 86th nationally, while Terra Environmental Research Institute, also in Miami, placed 10th in Florida and 87th nationally.
