ELKHART LAKE – USA TODAY readers ranked the Old World Christmas Market among the best holiday markets in the United States again.
The market, hosted at the Osthoff Resort, placed third in the “Best Holiday Market” category in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The Carmel Christkindlmarkt in Indiana placed first and the El Paso WinterFest in Texas placed second.
The Old World Christmas Market placed first last year and fifth in 2023.
The German-inspired Christkindlesmarkt has been hosted at the resort for 27 years, with vendors selling unique artisan goods, like Czech blown-glass ornaments, Russian nesting dolls, and German hand-carved smokers and nutcrackers. Other items include handmade jewelry, chocolates, woodwork, and pashmina scarves and shawls.
The food court sells German food, like schnitzel, sauerbraten, dumplings, potato pancakes and more.
The Old World Christmas Market is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. between Dec. 5 and 14 at the Osthoff Resort, 101 Osthoff Ave. Entry is $8 per adult and free for children 14 years and younger who are with an adult ticketholder.
