Preliminary findings from an independent autopsy of Nolan Xavier Wells found the 18-year-old died of undetermined causes, his family’s attorney announced on Wednesday.
Wells, a football player at Southwest Mississippi Community College, was reported missing after he did not return from a Fourth of July trip with friends to Mississippi’s Horn Island. Authorities recovered his body on July 6.
The teen’s death has garnered widespread attention as Wells’ family has raised questions about his disappearance.
