Manchester City turned in arguably the performance of the Club World Cup so far with a 5-2 hammering of Juventus in Group G.
It ensured the Premier League side would finish top, meaning they will likely avoid Real Madrid in the last 16. There were a couple of early goals as Teun Koopmeiners cancelled out Jeremy Doku’s opening goal all inside 11 minutes but then it was all City.
An unfortunate Pierre Kalulu own goal made it 2-1 before substitutes Erling Haaland and Phil Foden added a third and fourth. A super strike from Savinho made it 5-1 before Dusan Vlahovic clawed one back in the 84th minute.

Just two more group-stage matches to come after a manic first first 13 days at the 2025 Club World Cup and then we all get to take a breather before the knockouts start at the weekend.
The last two games will decide Group H and they are coming up in just under three hours' time.

Here's the Juventus manager, still in the early days of this time in charge of the Turin-baed club, with his thoughts on that result while speaking to DAZN:
💬 “They were the better team. It was difficult to play, we wanted to change the team but it was not easy to press in this way. We need to be complete as a team and we need to be conditioned better to make our press work effectively.
“There is no damage, there is a game to play in four days. We are good, we played a team who are playing fantastic.”
A mightily welcome return to the starting XI for Rodri today and he managed 65 minutes before being substituted having helped his team build a 3-1 lead.
Any team in the world would be massively improved by having the Spaniard back available and Guardiola was, unsurprisingly, asked by DAZN about his midfield general after the match.
💬 “We missed him a lot. I had a feeling that last season we had an incredible team but we had a lot of injuries.
“He’s the best midfielder in the world, he knows what to do with the ball. I didn't expect him to play so many minutes.”
Pep Guardiola could hardly wipe the smile off his face after that one and who can blame him. That was a win much more representative of the team he has built at Manchester City in the last decade. Here's his feelings on that result as he spoke to DAZN:
💬 “The way we did it (was most pleasing). It’s a long time, we needed a performance like today with and without the ball. We talked to the players about committing and proving things are in the past.
“This is just one game but today more than anything else the players felt again what we have to do to be a good team. They played and they knew it. It’s the only way, the belief comes back from your performance not from the past.”
I will not be listening to any arguments about this — and I hope you haven't got any.
Savinho's goal was the best of the seven that we saw at Camping World Stadium and if you haven't already seen it, you can enjoy it below.

He got on the score sheet tonight but it wasn't enough for his team — here's what Teun Koopmeiners had to say to DAZN about that defeat and Juve's progress to the next round:
💬 “It was difficult. They had a lot of the ball and we stayed a bit low so it was hard to recover the ball. Unfortunately in the second half they were stronger than us.
“We tried to press them a bit higher in the first half, the goalkeeper made a mistake and we could make it 1-1. But after that we conceded too many goals.”
Juventus will want to put that game behind them — especially if they end up facing Real Madrid next.
That is still up in the air until Group H play their final games.
But after looking impressive in their opening two games, that was a humbling defeat to City. There were positives in the way they pounced on City errors but they could have been more clinical from the positions they found themselves in.
Work to do before the knock outs.
The Manchester City captain has been speaking to DAZN after that win and was understandably pretty happy with the win.
Here's what he had to say:
💬 “Very good, we are very happy with what we did today against a top team. We managed to control the ball, apart from a few mistakes we made individually it was probably the best result we had in this tournament.
“It's just another win. It's an important win because it makes us qualify first. It's three points, we're happy to be in the united states and to qualify for the last 16. We will watch the game tonight to see who is out next opponent.
“Now it's kill or be killed. We have to be ready for the next stage of important games.”

Mexican waves have been pretty popular at the Club World Cup and we were treated to another one today.
Here are the fans inside Camping World Stadium enjoying that one.

If there is one thing Erling Haaland knows how to do, it is score goals.
It wasn't his cleanest finish today — far from it — but it went in the back of the net and that is all that matters. The 24-year-old now has 300 senior career goals — here is the breakdown
Haaland's 300 goals
A bit of a slow start for Manchester City, but they came through Group G in some style.
Juventus started well but were beaten by a much better team and have had to settle for second place.
And there was a win for Al Ain, meaning Wydad finish their campaign without winning a single point.
This young fan has his Norway shirt on, his City flag and the hair style to match his idol Erling Haaland.
He'll go home happy after a goal from City's main man in that game.
All of a sudden, Manchester City look the real deal and they will take some stopping at this Club World Cup.
They are the only team to have come through the group stage without dropping a point and they will be hoping to avoid meeting Real Madrid in the last 16.
Although, playing like that, they won't be fearing any of the other teams left at this tournament — they were seriously impressive today.

That was Manchester City's first win over Juventus since 1976 when Brian Kidd scored the winner.
And it happened in style, too.
And that's time!
In the end, both teams will progress to the knock outs but that was a completely dominant performance from Manchester City.
90+1' Juventus 2-5 Manchester City
Haaland has shown some great approach play since coming on at half time.
He slipped in Cherki there who sent his shot at Di Gregorio and should really have scored from that angle.
