Free FIFA World Cup events are coming to all five boroughs this summer.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani, alongside Gov. Kathy Hochul and FIFA World Cup NYNJ officials, announced plans to host free celebrations for the games that expect to bring over a million people to the region this summer.
Here’s when the World Cup games will take place, and the free events being held for New Yorkers.
The World Cup will host eight games at MetLife Stadium, which is being branded as New York New Jersey Stadium for the event. MetLife Stadium is in East Rutherford, New Jersey, right outside of the city.
Over 1.2 million fans are expected to be in the area for the games, meaning New York City has to plan accordingly for the event, too.
The games will take place in the region for over a month, with the schedule as follows, according to the stadium:
