Aussies in action on day six:
By Simon Smale
Fans of distance running, rejoice!
Faith Kipyegon is back in action tonight, the women's 1,500m gold medallist looking to double up for the second time in as many championships.
The four time gold medal winner at world championships across the 1,500 and 5k, claimed silver at the Olympics behind Beatrice Chebet, but had to fight a disqualification ruling for obstructing Ethiopian runner Gudaf Tsegay.
Both Kipyegon and Tsegay run in the second heat of this event, which will also feature Aussies Rose Davis and 1,500m runner Linden Hall.
Olympic champion Chebet goes in heat one, with Australian Georgia Griffith in action in that one.
Just two heats in this, with the first eight in each qualifying for the final.

As you'd expect at this stage of the competition, the field is absolutely stacked everywhere you look at it.
That been said, Gout Gout has had a very favourable draw for this semifinal.
He was the 12th fastest qualifier yet just three men ran faster than he did yesterday in the heats, Bryan Levell, Letsile Tebogo and Courtney Lindsey.
After Levell tore out the blocks to set the fastest qualifying time, he's clearly showed he's in good form, so this could be a quick race.
Here's the field for semifinal two, with the runner's time from the heats, plus their season's best in brackets.
Remember, the top two qualify automatically for the final, regardless of what time they run.
Then, the two fastest non-qualifiers from across the three semifinals will sneak in as fastest losers.

Nice to see two world championship medal winning athletes having a chat.
Remember, Jess Hull is in action later this evening.

Yesterday was a big day for Australian sprinting.
Gout Gout, the great hope for Australian track, was up against the very best in the world for the first time in his senior career.
And he proved, without a shadow of a doubt, that he belongs there.

Making dinner at the moment? Don't have your hands free?
Well get yourself some headphones or just turn up the volume to get the lowdown on Gout Gout's debut in audio form.
As Gout readies himself for the semifinal tonight, ABC Sport Daily spoke to his team to understand how the 17-year-old is managing the deluge of interest from the athletics community.
Have a listen to Pat Stack's chat with Gout's manager James Templeton.

If you missed Gout Gout's heat run yesterday, I have some questions for you.
But because I can't ask those questions, here's another look at it for you.
Thanks, of course, to SBS for the footage.
You can watch all the athletics across the week on SBS OnDemand and SBS Viceland.

As we've previously mentioned, Torrie Lewis will run in the second of the women's semifinals at 10:31pm AEST.
Her semifinal is a tough one, to be honest, with the newly crowned 100m champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden inside her and Britain's 200m star Dina Asher-Smith another lane further in.
Both women have run sub-22 seconds in their career.

Again, the main attention is going to be focussed on Gout Gout tonight.
The time you need to be awake for is 10:09pm AEST, the second of the three semifinal heats.
Don't go to sleep after that though – Torrie Lewis will run in the second of the women's semifinals at 10:31pm AEST.
You can do what you like after that, to be honest.

Good evening sprint fans and welcome to the ABC Sport coverage of the 2025 World Athletics Championships.
It's day six, and a crucial one for Australian athletics.
Two of Australia's youngest and brightest sprinters go in the 200m semifinals, Gout Gout and Torrie Lewis, as both Queensland youngsters look to make history.
Our bronze medal winner from the 1,500m, Jess Hull, runs in the 800m heats, while two of Australia's big medal favourites Nicola Olyslagers and Eleanor Patterson will leap for a spot in the high jump final.
So much interest in tonight's events.
If you've got a question, I'll get to them as I can, so hit me up using the button.
If you're new to this old athletics watching lark and I'm not being clear, call me out and I'll do my best to clarify (it's pretty simple: run fast, throw further, jump higher or longer and you win).
