Lake Mary Little League has one heck of a doubleheader today. A few hours after the Lake Mary softball team opens play in the 2025 Little League World Series in North Carolina, the baseball team takes the field in Georgia for a spot in their Little League World Series regional championship game.
The defending world champions from Florida have made the past two Southeast Region finals and are the favorite to return to Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Lake Mary opened regionals with a 2-1 victory over Nolensville, Tennessee before cruising past Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia 10-0 in five innings. DJ Mieses, Jacob Brown and Levi Rodriguez have been the driving force of the Lake Mary offense — each had two RBIs vs. West Virginia — with Brown and Rodriguez also part of a dominant pitching staff that’s allowed just five hits so far.
Their opponents from Irmo, South Carolina are no slouch, either. They beat Cartersville, Georgia 5-3 before walloping Phenix City, Alabama 11-1 to set up the matchup with Lake Mary. Joe Giuletti has yet to be retired in the regional, going 4 for 4 with five runs scored, while catcher Andrew Bogan has hit five RBIs and Jacob Gibson drove in four against Alabama.
