Israel-Iran live: Trump announces Israel-Iran ceasefire has begun and tells them: 'Please do not violate it' – Sky News

June 24, 2025 by quixnet

Donald Trump announces a “total” ceasefire has been agreed between Israel and Iran, ending their 12-day conflict. Tehran, meanwhile, says it has stopped its attacks – with state TV claiming the US president “begged” for a ceasefire. Listen to Trump 100 as you scroll.

Israel has just confirmed that a ceasefire with Iran is now in place.
Benjamin Netanyahu’s office says Israel will respond “forcefully” to any violations of the ceasefire.
The Israeli leader will deliver a statement later today.
Nine people were killed this morning during Israeli strikes in northern Iran, an official has told Iran’s Tasnim news agency.
Strikes hit residential buildings in the Gilan province, its deputy provincial governor said.
Here are the scenes in southern Israel this morning, where emergency services are at the site of an overnight Iranian missile attack.
Israeli medics say four people have been killed and at least a dozen more injured after an Iranian missile hit a residential building in Beer Sheba.
Iranian state media reported news of Donald Trump’s ceasefire overnight by claiming it had been “imposed” on Israel following Tehran’s “successful” military response to “US aggression”.
As a reminder, Iran launched an attack against a US military base in Qatar yesterday in response to America’s own strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities a day earlier.
And in an indication as to how Tehran plans to sell the halt in attacks to the Iranian public, state TV claimed Trump requested the ceasefire “in a begging-like manner”.
Trump himself had a different version of events. On Truth Social, he said Israel and Iran approached him “almost simultaneously, and said, peace”.
At this point, “I knew the time was now” he added.
It’s been a head-spinning few hours. Thankfully, the Trump 100 team is on hand to unpack it all.
US correspondents Mark Stone and James Matthews take in the latest updates from the Israel-Iran conflict, including Donald Trump’s surprise ceasefire announcement.
They also ask the question on many people’s lips – what’s happened to Iran’s highly enriched uranium?
If you’ve got a question you’d like the Trump 100 team to answer, you can email it to trump100@sky.uk.
Donald Trump says the ceasefire between Israel and Iran is “now in effect”.
“PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT,” he adds in a post on Truth Social.
As we’ve mentioned, Iranian state media has reported the ceasefire has started.
We’re yet to hear official confirmation from Israel.
Israeli emergency services say the number of people killed in an Iranian strike in the city of Beer Sheba has now risen to four.
Magen David Adom added that at least a dozen people were also injured.
As we mentioned in our last post, Israel’s military says its citizens can now leave protected areas, signalling the end of Iranian missile threats.
Iranian state media has also reported that the ceasefire with Israel has now begun following four waves of missile attacks.
Good morning and welcome back to our live coverage of the Israel-Iran conflict.
If you’re just joining us, here’s what’s happened overnight:
Iranian state television says its ceasefire with Israel has now begun.
Earlier, Tehran’s foreign minister said his country’s armed forces would keep fighting “until the very last minute”.
Three people have died in southern Israel after an Iranian missile struck a residential building in the city of Beer Sheba, emergency services say.
In an update online, Magen David Adom says one woman and two men died, while two more have been taken to hospital in a moderate condition.
