Holmes Regional Medical Center has once again been recognized as the top hospital in Brevard County, according to a press release from Health First.
The hospital has also been ranked No. 31 in Florida by U.S. News & World Report in its annual Best Hospitals edition, according to the announcement.
Holmes Regional, part of the Health First system, was recognized for eight high-performing specialties, including leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma; gynecological cancer surgery; heart arrhythmia; aortic valve surgery; heart bypass surgery; diabetes; kidney failure; and hip replacement.
Health First’s Viera Hospital was recognized for hip replacement, while Palm Bay Hospital was recognized for pacemaker implantation and knee replacement.
“Health First remains more committed than ever to serving our community’s needs, and our patients and communities strengthen and motivate us each and every day,” said Terry Forde, Health First President and CEO.
“The U.S. News Best Hospitals report is one of – if not THE – most anticipated and respected resources available today for healthcare consumers. These accolades are especially meaningful to our physicians, nurses, associates, and volunteers who dedicate themselves to a stronger and healthier Brevard County, and we are honored to share these results with those who entrust Health First with their care,” Forde said.
“A hospital named among the U.S. News Best Hospitals has demonstrated its commitment to high-quality care, especially in achieving successful outcomes for patients,” said Ben Harder, U.S. News’ managing editor and chief of health analysis. “A Best Hospitals recognition reflects consistent top-tier medical care to its community.”
U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance based on objective measures, such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care.
The U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings serve as a starting point for patients and families, who should consult with their personal physicians when making specific health care decisions.
