England are level against Senegal in an international friendly at the City Ground.
Captain Harry Kane gave his side an early lead, tapping home after Anthony Gordon's shot was parried, for his fourth goal in four matches under Thomas Tuchel.
But England were pegged back before half-time when Ismaila Sarr stole in ahead of Kyle Walker to convert Nicolas Jackson's cross and equalise.
Senegal were in front on 62 minutes when Habib Diarra burst onto a through ball and finished coolly after more static defending.

Ten players who could steal the show at the 2026 World Cup

There is a VAR check under way.
And I've got absolutely no idea why those in charge feel a need to have VAR in operation for a friendly match.

Bellingham comes to England's rescue again!
81' England 1-2 Senegal
A rare sight of the Senegal goal for England but an effort that Mendy can watch over his crossbar.
Madueke curled a decent cross into the box from a corner on the left-hand side and Bellingham rose highest, but he was stretching to make contact and his header looped high and wide of the target.

Fans in this part of the country have to wait a long time to see England play up here, but they are going to be going home very disgruntled at this rate.
They have paid to watch a team dripping with quality players but one that has played as badly as any England team over the last four or five years.
Tepid passing football, lazy defending and a defeat on the way.
75' England 1-2 Senegal
A penny for the thoughts of Ivan Toney, who has come a long, long way from Saudi Arabia for a grand total of zero minutes so far in this international break.
He looked like he was chewing a wasp when the TV cameras panned to his face on the substitutes' bench just now.
74' England 1-2 Senegal
Why has Thomas Tuchel called Ivan Toney up for this camp?
Questions marks were raised about a man plying his trade in Saudi Arabia being included in such a competitive squad and the man who picked him hasn't given him a minute in either match so far.
England have not had a striker on the pitch for 15 minutes yet Toney still isn't being given a look-in — he is the only outfield player in the squad not to have played yet in this international window…

Two more changes for England, but still no sign of Ivan Toney.
Jude Bellingham and Noni Madueke are the men who are coming on — Arsenal pair Rice and Saka have been withdrawn.

The introduction of Gibbs-White has completely transformed England's attack.
He was the heart of the action again a moment ago and it was Saka who was alert to latch onto a loose ball in the penalty area. The Arsenal winger's effort was as accurate as it could have been, but lacked the power to beat Mendy who clawed it behind brilliantly.
The former Chelsea goalkeeper should have done better for England's opener, but he has made amends for that mistake in this second half.

That's more like it from England.
A long ball was lifted towards Eze and his flick into the path of Gibbs-White was excellent. The Nottingham Forest man, eyes lighting up at the prospect of scoring a goal for England on his home ground, went for power rather than precision and leathered his left-footed volley straight at Mendy.
63' England 1-2 Senegal
Put simply, this has been a pathetic England performance — another one overseen by Tuchel in just his fourth game.
Senegal, on the other hand, have been superb and are full value for their 2-1 lead.
Diarra has been a threat to England all night and he has his goal. He gave Myles Lewis-Skelly the slip down the right wing and had a clear run on goal.
His effort was a wayward one, heading wide of the far post, but Henderson's attempt to keep it out actually took it inside the far post.

England have been dreadful and are, once again, punished by Senegal!

More baffling selections from Thomas Tuchel as Kane is withdrawn… and no striker is brought on in his place.
There are cheers from the City Ground crowd as Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is on for his fourth cap.
Two more changes have seen Curtis Jones replace Gallagher and Morgan Rogers take the place of Gordon.

England aren't playing with the requisite intensity here.
Moments ago, Levi Colwill was far too casual in allowing the ball to roll towards him slowly before flicking a pass to his right that Chelsea team-mate Nicolas Jackson nearly intercepted.
Then Harry Kane could have played a nice brisk early pass to Bukayo Saka, who was in down the right, but instead turned in a circle, ending the momentum and urgency of the attack.
54′ England 1-1 Senegal
We often discuss England’s embarrassment of attacking riches. Yet so often we watch them fail to create anything meaningful against lower-ranked opposition.
That has been the case this evening with the Senegal defence and midfield stifling a particularly stagnant England frontline.
The hosts have had just four shots tonight and two of them came from the goal and the preceding effort which should have been held by Mendy.
The home supporters are just starting to voice their frustration at the City Ground.
50' England 1-1 Senegal
A massive chance for Senegal goes begging!
Once again it is Diouf flying down the left wing and, once again, the visitors' left-back has burnt his way past Walker on that flank.
His delivery, for the third or fourth time tonight, was a beauty into the heart of the box and Diarra had made a Frank Lampard-esque box-crashing run onto it.
His finish, though, would have disgusted the former England man as he sent the ball a long, long way over the crossbar.
48' England 1-1 Senegal
Eberechi Eze hasn't had as much of the ball as he would have liked in a rare opportunity for him to impress in a central No. 10 role.
Is that on England to funnel him more possession, or Eze to take up more threatening positions to receive it? A bit of both. To be fair, he has made several promising runs and just not been found.
What's clear is with attacking midfielders as talented as Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, and Nottingham Forest favourite Morgan Gibbs-White on the bench, he may not last the full 90 if he remains similarly quiet.

No sign of any changes at the break for either manager, so it's as we were for the start of the second half.
Surely Tuchel will look to his bench if he doesn't see an improvement in the next 10 or 15 minutes — there is so much quality among the England substitutes this evening.
HT England 1-1 Senegal
There was a small section of the City Ground going absolutely barmy after Senegal's goal.
The country's supporters, clad in the green, yellow, and red of the country's flag, jumped up and down for joy, bursting with pride as their team got the goal they so dearly merited.
People in the food stalls and watching parties up and down the West African country will have been going absolutely crazy. And why not?
HT England 1-1 Senegal
England's right side is a problem.
Even before Kyle Walker's mistake for the goal, most of Senegal's attacking joy had come down their left, with Ismaila Sarr's directness and El Hadji Malick Diouf bombing on in support, Saka too high and Walker too narrow to get close enough to them both.
Tweaks needed. Maybe Conor Gallagher to play on the right of the midfield two to help cover.
