An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 on the Richter Scale struck the Tonga Islands at 5:48 PM IST on Sunday (March 30), according to the National Center for Seismology.

The 7.0 magnitude earthquake poses a potential threat to the islands’ infrastructure and residents. As per reports, the geographical location of Tonga, within the Pacific’s “Ring of Fire,” makes it susceptible to seismic activity.
