Nicole Fallert here. Still catching up after the holiday weekend? Try our News Quiz. Tuesday’s news starts with Artemis II’s historic moon drive by and ceasefire proposals between the U.S. and Iran. Plus: March Madness concludes.
Four astronauts on the Artemis II are headed toward Earth on Tuesday after completing a critical leg of the 10-day moon mission with a historic lunar flyby. Their passage of the far side of the moon gave the crew a view of the moon that can’t be seen from Earth.
The made observations and recorded data for scientists back home — and shared an emotional moment when it came time to name a crater.
To top off an incredible day, the crew witnessed a sublime solar eclipse.
March Madness
Michigan beat Connecticut 69-63 in a defensive battle to complete a dominant run through the NCAA tournament and capture the program’s second national championship. Elliott Cadeau paced the Wolverines in the win, scoring 19 points while nabbing three rebounds and two assists to lead the Wolverines to a 69-63 victory in the championship game.
Health & Wellness
Cherise Doyley, was trying for a vaginal birth, but staff were concerned about the risk of uterine rupture and suggested she give birth via C-section, according to reports from People and ProPublica. Doyley, who had previous C-sections that led to complications, told doctors she wouldn’t consent to a cesarean without trying a vaginal delivery first. Then nurses arrived with a tablet pulled open to a virtual court hearing with a judge and other officials.
