Chelsea are leading Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in the final of the 2025 Club World Cup, with President Donald Trump in attendance at the MetLife Stadium.
England international Cole Palmer has scored both of Chelsea’s goals against the reigning European champions.
The game is being shown live on DAZN and highlights will be available later on The Athletic.
31' Chelsea 2-0 PSG
This has been a staggeringly good start to this Club World Cup final by those Chelsea players — they are completely outplaying the European champions.
Mendes has not started well for PSG and his vacated left-hand side allowed James to clip a pass over the top for Palmer to chase. Vitinha was the recovering defender but his half-hearted attempt to stop Chelsea's talisman only opened up space for him in the penalty area.
With all the time in the world, Palmer coolly picked out the bottom left corner for the second time in this match. Cue the celebration!

He's at it again and Chelsea are in dreamland at MetLife Stadium!

And I don't think Palmer's finish can just be glossed over. He's so good at those shots where he just strokes the ball into the bottom corner, often using an unwitting opponent to help him unsight the goalkeeper.

Given the unbroken sunshine and humidity at MetLife Stadium, the players have taken a break for the game's first cooling break.
And they were taken into the break by a crunching challenge from Trevoh Chalobah which was celebrated like a goal by the Chelsea fans.
The Premier League side have been excellent so far and are full value for their first-half lead.
25' Chelsea 1-0 PSG
My big concern for Chelsea before the match was that Malo Gusto might find himself completely overrun by Nuno Mendes and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on PSG’s left flank.
But that was excellent from the Chelsea man, getting the better of Nuno Mendes near the halfway line, continuing his run and cutting inside. His shot was blocked, but Cole Palmer leapt on the loose ball and did the rest.
24' Chelsea 1-0 PSG
PSG have only fallen behind once this tournament, to Botafogo. And you might remember that they did not come back against the Brazilians in that match,
Still plenty of this game to play, but this is a rarer test for Luis Enrique’s side.

Chelsea have the lead that their strong start deserves!
A rare lapse from Nuno Mendes allowed Sanchez's long ball to find Malo Gusto. The Frenchman raced into the penalty area and checked back onto his left foot before going for goal but his effort was blocked.
He managed to get to the loose ball first, though, and roll the ball back for Palmer. Having seen his earlier effort fly wide of the top corner, Palmer went for pure placement and picked out the bottom corner brilliantly.
What a start for Chelsea!

Who else?

After that sluggish start, PSG are starting to grow into the game now.
Doue is the target of their attacks on the right-hand side and, like he did against Bayern Munich, he tore infield onto his left foot a moment ago. Despite Chelsea's collective effort to stop him, he manufactured half a yard of space on the edge of the box and went for the bottom corner with his left foot.
Unlike Manuel Neuer in the quarter-final, Robert Sanchez was equal to it with a strong left hand. That's the first save of the game for either goalkeeper and it was a smart one from the Spaniard.
17' Chelsea 0-0 PSG
The weather forecast today called for partly cloudy conditions, but the stadium has seen almost no cloud cover over the past hour.
Looking around the stands, scores of fans are covering their heads with the free rally towel they were given upon entrance, while plenty of others are fanning themselves with whatever they've got.
16' Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Superb defending from Cucurella to deny PSG a certain goal!
For the first time in the match, the Parisians found themselves in an advanced position and Fabian Ruiz rolled a perfectly weighted across the six-yard box and into the path of Desire Doue.
The young Frenchman, who might have been better served going for goal himself, looked to square it for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but his pass was brilliantly intercepted by Cucurella who had gambled on Doue passing rather than shooting.

An early sign of rising tempers as Moises Caicedo gets in the face of a PSG player lying on the ground. With a significant number of Ecuador fans in the crowd, there will be plenty of support for the Chelsea midfielder.
12' Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Just as it looked like PSG were going to enjoy their first extended spell of possession in the match, Chelsea wrestled back the ball.
Vitinha has started dropping really deep to escape the clutches of Chelsea's three-man midfield but, as soon as he looks to play the ball into the middle of the pitch, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez are all over it.
It is still very early in this match but Maresca's decision to go with three in midfield looks like a really good call. Although, it doesn't feel like long before PSG will start to find their slick passing football.
10' Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Chelsea have made a superb start here. I'll be honest, I didn't expect them to be able to hang with PSG here today.
They had a relatively easy path to the final but if they manage to defeat the reigning European champions you can't say they wouldn't be worthy winners.
9' Chelsea 0-0 PSG
I liked that moment during Saturday’s pre-match news conference when Enzo Maresca was asked whether his team would have to “suffer” against PSG, given the likelihood they would have to endure long periods without the ball. Maresca seemed to take umbrage at that, asking, “Who said that?”
Very early days, but Chelsea have had most of the possession so far and are looking more dangerous.
8' Chelsea 0-0 PSG
What a start this has been for Chelsea and they come so close to taking the lead.
Half of MetLife Stadium thought Cole Palmer had opened the scoring, but his curling left-footed effort from the top of the penalty area didn't quite curl enough with Gianluigi Donnarumma rooted to the spot.
It was a lovely move from Chelsea and the lay-off from Joao Pedro, in particular, was superb.
PSG look a little spooked by this quick start.

7' Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Chelsea have already managed to go longer than Real Madrid without conceding a goal against this PSG side.
5' Chelsea 0-0 PSG
It seemed quite obvious from the team selection, but we have got confirmation that Reece James will be part of the Chelsea midfield today.
It feels like an attempt for the Premier League side to match up with the European champions' three-man midfield.
I still fancy, despite James' defensive strengths, that the PSG trio will find a way to counter it.
3' Chelsea 0-0 PSG
The first stages of this final feel particularly important given PSG's status as strong favourites coming into it.
Chelsea seem keen to stamp their authority on the match from the start and have made a bright start. Cole Palmer looks on it today with a couple of really nice early touches and there was a chance for Marc Cucurella, but his header was poor and PSG were able to clear.
